Janine McCarthy is leaving the staff of MCC and heading off to new adventures. She will be missed.
Janine joined the denominational staff in 2014 as the part-time Administrative Assistant to the Director of Operations. In 2015, she added serving as the part-time Administrative Assistant to the Director of Office of Church Life and Health, thus becoming a full-time staff member. Over those 9 years, Janine has also served as Finance Clerk, Church/Donor Base Support, Communications Assistant, Operations Data Support, and her most recent position was as Administrative Assistant.
Janine shared that “it has been a joy and privilege working with MCC over the last almost nine years and a wonderful experience creating for and supporting fellow staff members in MCC, the Council of Elders, the Governing Board, the Networks, and MCC Clergy and Laity.”
Rev. Elder Cecilia Eggleston reflected on Janine’s time on staff. "I first met Janine when she served on the registration team at a General Conference. Her friendliness and efficiency impressed me at the time. She has served on MCC staff in many different roles, as well as being a key member of our Christmas staff party planning team! She supports the Council of Elders with their Call to Prayer, has kept the database up to date, worked with colleagues on the clergy licensing and church annual report process, among many other responsibilities. She will be much missed and I wish her every blessing in her new position."
Behind the scenes, Janine brought her creativity and sense of humor to MCC staff celebrations. From original song lyrics to ukulele tracks and performances to mad-libs, she brightened our gatherings. Her administrative skills were a gift to our work.
Janine will be joining a small wellness and spiritual life company that is rooted in equity, inclusion, and joy. As their Outreach Executive, she will co-create a wellness and spiritual life company culture to help people come home to their bodies, develop their spiritual connections, and live balanced, fulfilling lives. We wish her well.
Janine’s last day on staff is 10 March 2023.
