What is your passion?
Physical movement is my passion. The bond it nurtures and strengthens between mind, body, and spirit drives my passion for it. When you move your body, you can feel confident, strong, energized and relaxed all at the same time. I am so very happy and grateful when I get to share this passion with others, especially during yoga practice.
Why yoga?
Because it not only tones the body, but you always leave your yoga session with that "little bit extra". Whether you leave with new insight, a more balanced mind, the letting go of something no longer needed, it truly is the whole package. Yoga is exercise and health for the whole person. It is a duality, both grounding and uplifting, drawing us inwards and simultaneously out into our environment.
What is nourishment to you?
It is anything that positively feeds the soul. Time spent with family and friends, yoga practice, physical exercise, good food, a sunny day, sharing a laugh with someone... fortunately the list goes on and on.
What are you working on?
I'm currently working on being more grounded and mindful. I find that my mind has acquired a taste for being easily tempted into the future or past. As I'm working in this area, I notice that I'm beginning to find sweet pockets of serenity and appreciation for life. Time can slow down, happy memories become stronger ,and the little sweet things in life seem even sweeter.
What would surprise people to know about you?
Hmmm.... maybe that I have been to at least one country in 6 out of the 7 continents by now. I have been to over 21 countries at least, and some of them multiple times. I love travel, new adventures and experiencing different ways of life. And of course travel photography! I'm saving the seventh continent, Antarctica, for sometime in the next twenty years before my fiftieth birthday!

Happy New Year to everyone. I hope you had a wonderful holiday season, celebrating with family and friends. As the new year starts, many of us have things that we would like to start or change, whether it be more exercise, eat better or differently or something all together different. I would like to make a small suggestion for your consideration. It's a small thing that could make a huge difference in your body - drinking warm lemon water first thing in the morning.

There are many benefits to the body drinking the juice of 1/2 a lemon mixed with warm water first thing in the morning.
  •  It rehydrates the body and helps flush the digestive system after a night of no fluids.
  • It helps to alkalize the body as many of us eat foods that contribute to lowering our bodies ph level and research is starting to indicate that many diseases thrive in an acidic environment but don't in an alkaline environment.
  • It reduces inflammation by helping to remove uric acid from the joints.
  • Lemon juice gives your body a vitamin C boost which has major benefits for the immune system, as stress lowers the amount of vitamin C the body has access to, and we are all under some amount of stress, to one degree or another.
  • Vitamin C has been studied extensively and shown to have a myriad of health benefits including protecting against prenatal problems, cardiovascular disease, eye diseases, skin wrinkles, and immune system deficiencies.
  • It acts as an antioxidant and helps protect cells from damage caused by free radicals.
  • It is also a good source of potassium which is good for your heart and brain.
It is very important to note that when lemon juice comes directly in contact with the teeth, it can degrade the enamel on the teeth. Hence, it is advised to consume it diluted, and also rinse your mouth thoroughly after drinking lemon juice. You can also drink it through a straw, which is what I do, to avoid contact with the teeth as much as possible.

If this little change resonates with you, please let me know how it goes and if you notice any differences in your body or how you feel. I would be interested in your observations. Click here for more benefits.

All the best in good health.
