A message from our CEO
We're looking ahead to 2021 with optimism as we grow our team and start new builds!

While we start this year in a province-wide lockdown to help flatten the curve of the COVID pandemic, our team remains committed to ensuring we are prepared for the road ahead.

One of the ways we will strengthen our mission moving forward is through our amalgamation with Habitat for Humanity Brant-Norfolk! We are thrilled to expand our Habitat Heartland family to include Brantford, County of Brant, and Norfolk County. We will operate as one Habitat Heartland Ontario with our Brant-Norfolk Chapter to build more Habitat homes for more individuals and families in the 6 counties we serve. We will share more about our amalgamation and our team over the coming months, along with details about our upcoming projects!

As our St. Thomas semi-detached home build reaches the half-way point, we are thrilled to announce two new Habitat homeowners, Teagan and Shayna, who will call 92 & 94 Scott Street home! Read more about their stories below.

Habitat Heartland continues to welcome volunteers to our ReStores and build sites following provincial health & safety protocols, and we have a variety of volunteer positions for you to get involved! And make sure to check out the online ReStores, where you can find the same great deals on great products that you're used to. All 9 Habitat Heartland ReStores are now online!

Thank you for your continued support, and stay well!

Munsee-Delaware Nation Build - Virtual Key Ceremony!

To celebrate the completion of Habitat Heartland's Munsee-Delaware Nation build of 4 homes for Indigenous families, we put together a Virtual Key Ceremony!

While we missed celebrating in-person with everyone involved in the project, we were glad to be able to come together virtually to thank our supporters, volunteers, and community partners including the Tachane Foundation who supported us through our Habitat for Humanity Indigenous Housing Program. Thank you to the Munsee-Delaware Nation community for being such amazing partners on this build.

Habitat Heartland was incredibly proud to have partnered with Munsee-Delaware Nation to build safe and secure homes for 4 Indigenous families on Traditional Munsee-Delaware Territory.

Meaning of Home National Writing Contest!

The Meaning of Home writing contest is back for 2021!
While children are spending more time at home than ever before, why not have them write about what home means to them?

If you know a student in grades 4, 5 or 6, they can enter our Meaning of Home national writing contest by submit their composition, essay, or poem about what home means to them! With their entry, $10 will be donated to Habitat Heartland, and they have the chance to win a $30,000 grant for a Habitat Heartland build of their choice!

This is a perfect activity for at home, virtual, and in-class learning!

Meet Our Team!

Renee - Volunteer Coordinator, Habitat Heartland Ontario Brant-Norfolk Chapter

Where you live isn’t your community unless you do something to make it a better place” - it's my personal motto...
My first experience with Habitat Brant-Norfolk was working on a home in Simcoe. I was a volunteer, and I knew the Future Homeowner family through a work connection. Fast forward a few years and I now have the pleasure of being the Volunteer Coordinator on staff. This two-year journey has involved getting to know hundreds of volunteers from various backgrounds, and over a dozen hardworking and deserving Future Homeowner families. When I learned that our affiliate was going to be merging with (the much bigger) Habitat Heartland Ontario, I admit I was a little nervous… Now that the process has started however, I am very excited about what the future will hold. There is so much experience and talent at the table; professionally I will get to further learn, develop my craft, and share my experience and ideas. We are building a stronger and better team. My community just got bigger – and I, we, are so excited to grow and create a more meaningful and fulfilling experience for our volunteers. Most importantly, we get to serve more families in need of safe, decent, affordable homes.

We will be profiling our Habitat Heartland Team over the next few months, talking about what the merger means to them and the impact it will have on the communities we serve!
