As winter settles into the Flathead and a new year dawns, I think about how lucky we are to live in Montana. I love this view of Camp Lang from the water. Denise's Cooking Corner - 10 Warming Hot Chocolate Recipes

As the temperatures drop, it’s all the more tempting to sit by the fire and sip on a mug of something warm. Here's a roundup of the 10 best recipes for rich, creamy hot chocolate—from boozy Mexican to a version with red wine. Click on the photo for all 10 delicious recipes.
Here's my favorite -- Frenched Hot Chocolate
Ingredients
12 ounces whole milk
6 ounces yellow Chartreuse (honeyed herbal liqueur)
2 ounces dark chocolate, chopped
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise and seeds scraped
One 3-inch cinnamon stick, plus freshly grated or ground cinnamon for garnish
Directions
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk, Chartreuse, Calvados, chocolate, vanilla bean and seeds and cinnamon stick. Stir constantly over moderate heat until the chocolate is completely melted. Remove from the heat, discard the vanilla bean and whisk the hot chocolate until frothy. Ladle into warmed mugs or heatproof glasses and garnish with cinnamon.

It all seems like a fruitless task until she meets Henry, a young man working in a hidden bookstore. "I remember," he says. Finally, it occurs to Addie that may have found a loophole — a cure for her lonely existence. But there's something Henry isn't telling her and it may be enough to bring an end to Addie's three centuries of resistance and survival. The drama unfolds with each chapter set in a different year and place in Addie and Henry's life.
Although, I am mostly fond of historical fiction, I found this quasi time-travel book delightful, thoughtful and a good page turner. It is intriguing to consider how our humanness hinges on the hunger we have to leave our mark on this world before we are forced to leave it all together. I think you will like it, too.
