Preparing for Sunday

Prayer of Commitment
(inspired by 1 Corinthians 13: 1-13)

Lord,
Because love is patient…
Help me to be slow to judge, but quick to listen,
hesitant to criticize, but eager to encourage,
remembering your endless patience with me.

Because love is kind…
Help my words to be gentle and my actions to be thoughtful. Remind me to smile and to say “Please” and “Thank You” because those little things still mean so much.

Be a Champion over Hunger!

You can be a "hunger-fighting" champion this Super/Souper Bowl Sunday, February 3rd. The youth of St. Martin's and Christ Church will be selling soup mixes for a suggested donation of $10 to benefit the Great Valley and Ardmore Food Cupboards. Purchases can be made on Sunday before or after the church services and during the Chili Cook-Off event in Bolingbroke. Thanks for your support!
Chili Cook-Off
Bring your appetite!

The 21st Annual Chili Cook-off is this Sunday after the 10 AM service in Bolingbroke. First, second, and third place winners will be determined by a secret ballot vote of the Cook-Off attendees. Incredible prizes will be awarded! Be sure to join us for this fun and filling event!

Please Note: Due to the space needed for the Cook-Off in Bolingbroke, both the 8 and 10 AM services will be held in church.
Outreach
The Highland Hamper

This week we made the monthly delivery to Highland Avenue taking pasta & sauce, soups, vegetables and canned meats. They were so grateful especially in light of the cold snap. Please continue to donate the basics (veggies, soup, peanut butter, etc) and for the next two weeks (Feb 3rd to Feb 10th) we'll focus on canned fruit and applesauce. As always, thank you so much for your support.
Sunday School
Souper Bowl Sales, Music, and LEGO Creation

This Sunday is Souper Bowl Sunday! Starting at 9:30 a.m., children and youth will have a short music rehearsal for when they sing Jesus Loves Me on February 17...the Sunday after Valentines Day.

After music practice, the children will finish assembling the final jars to sell to benefit our food cupboard partners. Last week we talked about Jesus teaching us to feed the hungry, so we ask for your generous support. We recommend a minimum donation of $10 for our bean soup mix with pasta and spices. Jars will be out after the 8 and 10 a.m. services and in Bolingbroke for the Chili Cook-off.

After jar assembly we will continue in the large Sunday School room with our Bible interpretations using Legos.

Please bring your Sunday School-aged children and youth (3 and older) to join us at 9:30 a.m. Younger children are welcome to join Megan in the nursery, also beginning at 9:30. Please contact Ms. Deb if you have suggestions or questions.
Bible Study
Read. Discuss. Reflect.

On Wednesdays in February, the Parallel Gospel Bible Study will be at St. Martin's. All adults, newcomers as well as previous participants are welcome. Books are provided. The discussion starts at 7pm in the large Sunday School room. For more information contact Deb Parker.
All Levels Yoga Class
Breathe, stretch, and destress!

The next St. Martin’s yoga class will be February 5th at 6:30 p.m. Sessions are a mix of spiritual awareness and physical activity. Effort is emphasized over achievement and pose modifications are encouraged to strengthen individual balance. Classes conclude by resting in stillness - the perfect opportunity for a prayer of gratitude. Come and enjoy this mind-body-soul experience!
Choir Rehearsal
Change of Schedule

Please note: There will be no choir rehearsal on Sunday, February 10th. Rehearsals will resume on Sunday, February 17th at 9:00 AM. Those interested in singing are welcome to rehearse on any given Sunday.
Community Service
The Upper Room

St. Martin’s Church, Radnor and Christ Church, Ithan host “The Upper Room”, a mid-week conversational gathering for the community at the Gryphon Cafe, 105 W Lancaster Ave, Wayne. There will be a different topic for the 2nd & 4th Wednesday get-togethers that are from 6:00-7:00 PM. All are welcome, so bring a friend to share, learn, and enjoy! A light dinner will be provided. Ample parking is available in the nearby Santander Bank lot.
SWIC News
