January 2016

Sunny, warm weather means lots of people out walking their pets, but unfortunately this also means it is Canine Parvovirus, paralysis tick and snake envenomation season!

Also we are very excited about our digital dental xray machine! Find out how we are celebrating with free dental xrays in January and February*!

In Sonny's staff spotlight this month we profile head nurse Lisa.

Bye for now,

From all the Team at

Casula & Elizabeth Drive Vet Hospitals!

To celebrate our new digital dental xray machine, for the months of January and February ,with every dental clean, scale and polish we are offering free full mouth dental xrays! (This is valued at $150 for cats and small dogs and $200 for dogs over 10kg.)

Comprehensive full mouth dental xrays show the condition, length and placement of teeth and especially the roots. One study found that dental xrays revealed clinically important findings in 28% of dogs and 41% of cats where no abnormal findings were found on oral examination!

To take advantage of this promotion, simply pay your $100 non-refundable deposit and book in a dental clean and scale for your cat or dog in the month of January or February at our Casula Veterinary Hospital. Give us a call or visit our website to find out more about the importance of your pet's dental health.

NEW! Pet of the Month
Meet Leo the Labrador who got into a little bit of trouble recently when he ate a mop head (perhaps mistaking it for spaghetti!) and had to have it surgically removed!
Email your pet's photo and a short description to casula@veterinaryhospital.com.au for your chance to be featured.

For the chance of your pet being featured on this year's Christmas Card post your best Christmas Pet Photos on our Facebook page!*

Canine Parvovirus
Is your dog up to date with it's vaccination? This means 3 vaccinations each one month apart, as a puppy, followed by annual boosters.

One of the diseases protected against in the basic C3 vaccination is Canine Parvovirus, a highly contagious, often deadly, disease that can be prevented by keeping your dog isolated until you have followed the recommended vaccination protocol.

There is no specific treatment for Parvovirus, only supportive care, with no guarantee of the outcome, even if this is started. The poor puppy becomes incredibly sick before they get better. So please for their sake make sure you keep your dog up to date with vaccination!

Kittens for Adoption!

We currently have 4 kitten for adoption. The adoption price covers their 1st vaccination, micro-chipping, desexing, flea and worming. They are litter trained and love to be cuddled. Come in and see them!
