I am finally home from my family trip to Guatemala and back in the office.  We had an amazing experience filled with lots of firsts for the kids.  It was my son's first time out of the country, our first time having our luggage fly to Rio without us, and my first experience doing a mission style trip.  There was no Jesus on this trip as the group we traveled with was not affiliated with a denomination - but as I like to call them a bunch of do gooder engineer types.

We did two solar installations on the trip.  The first was in the house of a rural family who only had candle light in their two room "house".  When we left their solar system would power four LEDs and provide them with a way to charge their mobile phone.  The bigger project was installing two large solar panels and a bank of batteries at a school for street kids.  I actually helped on the roof so I'm proud of this picture of our successful installation.

The group we traveled with is a non profit registered in Michigan (kinda Univ. Of Michigan centered) called the Appropriate Technology Collaborative.  They try to improve the lives of people in Latin America through solar power, water filtration systems and similar projects that focus helping design new technologies to solve common barriers to development.

Now that I'm back in the office it's time to dive right in!  Yesterday I focused on shipping although thankfully while I was gone my employee Julie kept things from getting out of hand.  Today I had time to crack open a small Virginia collection that came in while I was gone. I filmed a live sale video that is posted on Facebook.  If you want to see what's available you can go to ScoutPatchLive.com and check it out!

Yesterday I went and took a look at a warehouse space that is closer to my house.  My lease runs out at the end of March and since I can either renew it or be a free agent it's time to shop around.  I've got my wife going to look at the space tomorrow to give me her opinion.  I'm a bit like a kid in a candy shop when it comes to these things so I trust her judgement.

Now that I have my handle on the live sale format I am ready to dive in and start a 1,000 piece OA flap collection sale.  I need to coordinate exactly when that will happen but look for new in the Friday edition on when I'll do the video.  Sunday PM is perfect if I can work it out with my family schedule.

In Charlotte, North Carolina I have an antique mall booth that is filled with nothing but Scouting stuff.  I call this location my clearance center because I've marked down everything to move.  A lot of what you will find there are items that are too bulky to easily ship from an Internet store.  The booth is located in The Sleepy Poet which is a well established antique mall on South Blvd in Charlotte.  The mall is open 7-days/week year round.  So the next time you are in the area come check it out.
