Sir Francis Drake Closure Update
Work continues on the emergency repairs resulting from the December 13th sinkhole discovery.
Work remaining to be completed includes:
- A second layer of structural connection between the failed unreinforced concrete wall and the steel sheet pile wall,
- backfilling of the excavation,
- forming and pouring of a replacement pedestrian sidewalk (owing to its importance as a route serving Oak Manor and White Hill schools),
- thrie-beam guardrail re-installation, and
- fencing reinstallation.
Maggiora & Ghilotti will grind and place finish grade asphalt and restore pavement markings once the last of the work necessitating lane closures has been completed. The weather forecast is good. Subcontractor availability is becoming an issue but we are continuing to emphasize the need to get work completed quickly. We now anticipate that all work will be completed by January 19th.
We recognize that having the lane closed and the traffic signals flashing red remains an inconvenience but every hour of work that can be completed during the workday is an hour sooner that all of the traffic restrictions can be removed and traffic flow for vehicles, pedestrians and bicyclists can return to normal.
Thank you for your patience as we complete this important work.

Corona Virus Update
Mask Mandate in Effect
Marin County has aligned with the California Department of Public Health's order requiring all people, regardless of vaccination status, to wear masks in indoor public spaces and workplaces. All previous exemptions for small groups of fully vaccinated people have been removed. Masks are now required in all indoor public spaces, including gyms, fitness centers, office settings, employee commuter vehicles, religious gatherings, college classes and similar environments. Masks are not required outdoors but are strongly recommended in crowded environments.
Recap: Return to School 2022 Public Health Update
Marin County Office of Education (MCOE) hosted a virtual presentation on January 6 to provide the community with a COVID-19 update. Superintendent of Schools Mary Jane Burke moderated the online event, which provided a summary of case rates, vaccination figures, current information about the Omicron variant, and an update on schools. Public Health Officer Dr. Matt Willis and Deputy Public Health Officer Dr. Lisa Santora were the featured guest speakers for the gathering, which was hosted on Zoom.

As of January 6, Marin Water’s reservoirs are at approximately 94% of total storage capacity – well above the average for this same time of year. We do expect water supply levels to rise more as additional runoff continues to make its way to our reservoirs if the additional rainfall forecasted for this week comes through.
Click here to read more and to learn about how drought restrictions are being altered considering the increased rainfall.
