FROM PASTOR SARAH
Beloved of God,

You may have noticed some great news in the bulletin and this newsletter the last few weeks. Thanks to the generosity of a few members and the gifts given during worship on Christmas Eve, our year-to-date giving is just $746.52 below the budget!

Some of you have asked about how this happened. One important thing to know is that the report shown each week in the bulletin and this newsletter reflect the the received (Actual) giving (ie Sunday Offering for the General Fund) next to the Budgeted giving (which was passed by the congregation at the annual meeting last January).

On November 22, 2019 our deficit in general fund giving was $12,258.86. As of December 20, 2019 the deficit in giving was $5,870.86. As you can see then, $746.52 is a very small deficit in comparison.

We can all be very grateful to those whose gifts, above and beyond their pledge, have brought us to almost even at the close of the fiscal year.

I hope that you will each attend the Annual Meeting on January 26th after worship to discuss, among other things, the financial future of this congregation. May the Spirit inspire us to do God's work!

In peace,
Pastor Sarah

Suspicious Emails
There have been some suspicious emails sent out to some of our church members appearing to be from Pastor Sarah.  Please note that we will NEVER ask you for money, personal favors, or personal information via email, especially our personal email addresses.  All emails coming from St. Paul Lutheran staff ends in @SharingChristsLove.org and not gmail, yahoo, aol, etc. If you receive a suspicious email, please report it to the church office.
Nominating Committee Update
The Nominating Committee is Brandy Timmons, Sean Fraley, Tom Miller, and Pastor Sarah. Their work to invite individuals to serve on Council will wrap up early in January.

There are five roles opening this year: President, Treasurer, and three Members at Large. The Nominating Committee is looking for folks who have the following characteristics: active faith life, open minded, self-differentiated, good listener, good communicator, can see the big picture, open to change, and value the  history of the congregation. The committee also has an eye on finding a mix of demographics including, age, gender, and length of time in the congregation,  among others.

If you are interested in serving on Council, or you know someone who might be a good Council member, please talk with one of the Nominating Committee.

A slate will be created for the  annual meeting. Nominations are also accepted from the  floor.
