HSC Grateful for Radiant Church Volunteers
On Saturday January 8th, over 100 volunteers from Radiant Church in Surprise performed numerous tasks to update some of our Campus facilities, ulitmately helping to improve client services. These tasks included:

  • Tree trimming and gardening services at the St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) Urban Farm, which provides chemical-free fruits and vegetables for meals served to clients in the the SVdP Dining Room on the Campus.

  • Painting refresh inside the Lodestar Day Resource Center (LDRC) Day Room. The LDRC is a hub of numerous holistic client services from multiple partners aimed at helping clients move from street to home.

  • Refresh the paint on parking lot lines in the HSC staff/volunteer parking lot.

  • Assemby and distribution of hygiene/self-care kits for clients

The HSC is so thankful for the continued support of Radiant Church and the great turnout once again of their volunteers. Their labor of love looks amazing and is so appreciated by clients and staff alike. Thank you Radiant Church!
Project Connect: Taking HSC to the Streets
Individuals experiencing homelessness in and around Tempe were connected with a range of services and resources during Project Connect on Tuesday at the University Presbyterian Church.

Nearly 100 volunteers assisted HSC and our partners to serve approximately 150 guests, who were able to obtain housing support, healthcare screenings, job search and preparation, legal assistance, vital records and identification replacement, and more. COVID-19 screenings, tests and vaccines were also provided, as well as clothing, showers, food and bicycle repairs. Project Connect helps many individuals remove barriers to move from street to home.

The next Project Connect event is scheduled for March 22 in Surprise. In addition, a similar event on a larger scale for US military veterans, called Veteran StandDown is scheduled for February 10th and 11th. HSC is recruiting volunteers for both events. For more information, please contact Monica Hakala at mhakala@hsc-az.org
