Hillview School Spelling Bee
Tuesday, January 22, during 7th period. Hillview's annual School Spelling Bee is associated with the Scripps National Spelling Bee. All interested students are invited to participate. The School Spelling Bee is a written format, double elimination. Some helpful study lists are attached here, however the study lists are NOT the same as the word list used in the competition. The study lists are designed to give sample words, spelling patterns, and sound patterns typical of the Scripps Spelling Bee words. Our School Spelling Bee determines a school champion who will compete in the online Regional Semi-Final Spelling Bee for a chance to compete in the Regional Final in San Francisco.

We also also ask you to consider donating to the scholarship fund to support additional students and to ensure that all costs are covered. All 8th-grade students are welcome regardless of donation. To make your donation now, go to the Hillview website  here. If you are interested in  sponsoring any portion of the party (such as the DJ), your support would be greatly appreciated. A Reminder from Our District Nurse
To assist us in the prevention of head lice, speak with your student about not sharing personal items that touch the head, such as combs or hats, and also make a habit of checking your student's hair weekly and when your student may have been exposed. If head lice or nits are found, treat immediately and inform the school office. When a student who has been treated for head lice returns to school, their head should be checked by the school nurse or health representative to insure that it is free of live lice. For more information on the MPCSD head lice policy, see MPCSD Head Lice Policy  here Lianne Jemelian, RN  MPCSD District Nurse
