This Weekly Update by the Illinois School and Campus Safety Program links to revised school guidance from ISBE and the IDPH, shares resources for National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month, and promotes the upcoming virtual classes on wellness, railroad safety, understanding and planning for school bombing incidents, and digital threat assessment.

ISBE and IDPH Release Updated Guidance

The Illinois State Board of Education and the Illinois Department of Public Health released the document "Revised Public Health Guidance for Schools: Part 5 - Supporting Fully In-Person Learning For All Students January 11, 2022." They also released a FAQ document.
ISBE also shared a Test-to-Stay Protocol Flowchart, Interim Guidance on Testing, Executive Order 2022-03, and other documents on their Coronavirus page.
National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month

January is National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month. The Illinois School and Campus Safety Resource Center's page on Human Trafficking links to resources from several organizations including the National Center on Safe Supportive Learning Environments, the National Human Trafficking Hotline, the Polaris Project, the Department of Homeland Security - Blue Campaign, and others. Additionally, the National Child Traumatic Stress Network's National Slavery and Human Trafficking Prevention Month page has a variety of resources for students, parents, and educators.
There's Still Time to Register! Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience on January 26th via Zoom

There is still time to register for the Preparing for the Unimaginable: An In-Depth Look at Wellness, Trauma Recovery, and Resilience class on January 26th from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm via Zoom. This class is for K-12 schools and Institutions of Higher Education, as well as law enforcement and other school and campus safety stakeholders. Professional development hours will be available for K-12 educators seeking them from the Rock Island County Regional Office of Education (there is a fee from the ROE for the professional development hours). Railroad Safety for First Responders, Educators, and School Bus Drivers on January 27th via Zoom

There is still time to register for the Railroad Safety for First Responders, Educators, and School Bus Drivers class being held via Zoom on January 27th from 9am-12pm. The class covers the challenges that frontline responders and school staff are faced with when responding to an incident on or near railroad property. This 3-hour class will prepare all involved (bus drivers, school administrators, law enforcement, first responders, etc.) and will provide responding individuals the correct tools to safely navigate the unfamiliar environment of the railroad. Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents on February 16th
via Zoom

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class "Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents" will be held on February 16th from 8:30 am-12:30 pm via Zoom. The Understanding and Planning for School Bombing Incidents course is specifically tailored for prevention and response to school bombing incidents. For more information and to register, click here.
