March to the Polls
There are many groups planning to join the "March to the Polls" event this coming Saturday, March 20, in downtown Chicago. LWV IL and LWV OPRF will be meeting on the west side of Buckingham Fountain between 10:00 and 10:30am. There will be entertainment in the hours before the 11:00 am rally starts. Because our villages are close to public transportation, there will be groups taking the Blue and Green line downtown.  For more information, contact Marsha Borders.
Our New Member Coffee on Saturday, January 13, had 38 current and prospective members brave the cold to hear Heather Cunningham, LWV IL Issues Specialist, talk about how and why the League takes positions on issues.  Thanks to Marilyn Cantisano, Linda Bauer, J oan Petertil, Sandra Sokol, Joan Fiscella, Marsha Borders, Leigh Eicher, Donalda Ellek, Beverly Graham, Peggy Kell, Mary Cay Murray, Victoria Isaza-Rivera, and President Marge Massarello  for organizing an informative, enjoyable, and nourishing event. A special thanks to League member Leslie Lauderdale for helping to arrange the childcare (and to our young ladies, Lindsey and Riley who provided childcare). And we would like to welcome new members Tara Joyce and Nona Bernard for being inspired to join!
