January 23, 2020
This Sunday is Youth Sunday. The youth have planned and will lead both worship services. This is always a very special service for our Dayspring congregation.
The labyrinth is a walking meditation. It is a tool that enables us, in the midst of the busyness of life, to be still and focus our thoughts and feelings. Because we are so busy and stressed is more than enough reason to slow down for a short time to re-create ourselves, to find a new purpose in our busyness, and to dwell on the true meaning for this time of year. Join Pastor Shirley at the entrance to the labyrinth on the patio this Sunday, January 26 at 10:00am to learn more about this remarkable resource.
The Church-wide Picnic is scheduled for this Sunday, January 26 at noon at Kiwanis Park’s Fiesta Pavillion (see the map below). Bring lunch for your family and enjoy an afternoon at the park with Dayspring friends. We will again be holding a baking competition children and adults alike are encouraged to bring your best home-baked treats for everyone to enjoy. We will also have tug of war, potato sack races, and much more family fun! We hope to see you there.
We will host Family Promise again starting this Sunday. Volunteers are needed to help set up, tear down, prepare and serve meals, spend the night, entertain, shop, and do laundry. Please email Maria with questions or to volunteer.
Confirmation starts this Sunday, January 26, for all youth in 7th grade and up. Confirmation classes are a special part of the faith journey and offer a fantastic opportunity to talk with and learn from our pastors. Please email Jennine if you are interested or have questions.
Wednesday Evening Fellowship begins January 29 and continues through February 19 in Fellowship Hall. Dinner is served at 5:30pm with our master chefs in the kitchen! Classes follow dinner at 6:30pm. This session's classes are:
Compassion -Amy Notbohm leads a study of the Judeo-Christian perspective on compassion for self, others, and the world with a focus both on concepts and practices that bring compassion to life.
Invite Welcome Connect -Join Pastor Joel as we explore what it means to be a relational church in our community using inviting, welcoming, and connecting techniques. For many, talking about our faith and our church is one of the most difficult things we can do. In this workshop, we will learn the importance of personal invitation, welcoming folks, hearing their stories, recognizing their gifts, and connecting them to ministry.
We’ve started a new Moms Fellowship Group, open to all moms in search of a kid-free night out one Friday per month. We will meet on January 31 to help cook and serve dinner for those staying with us through Family Promise. We will go out for our own dinner and conversation afterward. Click here for a sign up to donate food. Please email Andrea with questions . She will also have a list of sitters from our youth group, if needed.
Our seasonal Dayspring worshipers are invited to Dayspring’s Winter Visitor Appreciation Brunch on Thursday, February 6 at 10:00am. Come celebrate your winter home, get to know other members of Dayspring’s seasonal family over a meal, and be inspired by the beauty and uniqueness of Arizona! Win Holden, retired publisher of Arizona Highways, will share stories and pictures from the acclaimed magazine. Please RSVP to the church office by February 2.
