CARB Withdraws Waiver Request


CARB has withdrawn their request to the US EPA for a waiver that would have allowed the implementation of the Advanced Clean Fleet Regulation (ACF) and the In-Use Locomotive Standards. The withdrawal of the ACF will affect private fleets. CARB has informed public agency fleets that they are still expected to comply.

Government Agencies Mandated to Pay a Fee to Test EVSEs & Hydrogen Dispensing Systems


The Department of Food and Agriculture (Department), Division of Measurement Standards (DMS) is responsible for overseeing the fuel quality, dispenser accuracy, advertising, and labeling of all motor vehicle fuels sold at retail, including low- and zero-emission alternative fuels. State Regulations now require government agencies to pay a fee to have their Zero-emission fuel dispensing equipment tested.

Grants Accepting Applications

Communities in Charge - Charger Incentive

 

  • Funds cover up to $6,500 per Level 2 AC port or 100% of eligible costs, whichever is less. 
  • Multifamily housing sites can receive an additional $2,000 towards eligible costs. 
  • Project sites for Tribal government, Tribal entity, or non-governmental organizations serving Tribal communities can receive an additional $3,500 towards eligible costs. 
  • At least four and up to twenty connectors are allowed for most project sites. Multifamily housing and workplace projects may have a maximum of forty connectors. 
  • Applications are open through January 31, 2025.

Cummins Fuel Cell Truck Sets Record


A Cummins Accelera truck, developed in partnership with the US DOE and set up as a rescue truck has set a record traveling 1,800 “Zero-emission” miles on a single tank of hydrogen fuel.

The use of renewable diesel, biodiesel and sustainable aviation fuel has grown, rapidly approaching five billion gallons. These fuels are resulting in huge carbon reductions in on-road, off-road, marine and air applications.

California Department of Food and Agriculture’s (CDFA) Division of Measurement Standards (DMS)


Requirements for EVSE installed for commercial purposes 

  • The EVSE is type approved if being installed for commercial purpose, such that the fee for any transaction is based upon the quantity of energy delivered as motor vehicle fuel 
  • EVSE operating commercially must be placed in service by a Registered Service Agency (RSA). CDFA-DMS maintains several lists of RSAs on the RSA website

CALSTART’s “ Zeroing in on Zero-Emission Trucks Report

 

  • More than 42,500 Zero Emission Trucks (ZET) have been deployed in the United States
  • Applications such as first- and last-mile delivery, return-to-base operations, and drayage are ready for ZETs today. 
  • Issues holding back ZET deployments include: High purchase price, Infrastructure delays, Insurance and monthly lease payments and Regulatory uncertainty.
