FentAlert Youth Challenge Happening Now!

The FentAlert: Empowering Youth for Safer Choices - SAMHSA Fentanyl Awareness Youth Challenge seeks "the best ideas from U.S. youth, aged 14-18, on a community strategy to increase youth awareness, education, and prevention around the dangers of fentanyl, especially the hidden dangers of fake pills and other contaminants that can lead to drug overdose deaths." Behavioral Health Among College Students Information and Resource Kit

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's Behavioral Health Among College Students Information and Resource Kit "focuses on the consequences of substance misuse among college students, including the misuse of prescription and over-the-counter drugs. It includes current data about drinking among college students explores the causes of misuse, including peer pressure, stress, social norms, and advertising messages."
ROEs 48 and 53 to Host I Love U Guys Foundation's Standard Response Protocol
Train-the-Trainer Classes on Jan. 29th & 30th

The Peoria County Regional Office of Education and the Tazewell, Woodford, and Mason Counties Regional Office of Education, funded by the Department of Homeland Security Targeted Violence and Terrorism Prevention Grant, are hosting the I Love U Guys Foundation for the Standard Response Protocol (family reunification) Train-the-Trainer on Monday, January 29, 2024, and Tuesday, January 30, 2024, in Peoria, IL. Both days will be an identical training to provide flexibility for districts. Participants will only need to attend 1 of the 2 days. The training, meals, drinks, and afternoon snacks will be provided for free. Registration will close on January 19th (or earlier if capacity is reached).

Upcoming Session of Campus Threat Assessment and Management Feb. 29-March 1st in Normal

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce the class Campus Threat Assessment and Management will be held Feb. 29-March 1, 2024, in Normal, IL. This two-day workshop for institutions of higher education featuring Gene Deisinger, Ph.D will help participants to better understand the dynamics of targeted violence and to develop and enhance strategies for early identification, assessment, and intervention with concerning situations.

Upcoming Session of Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations March 4-5th in Plainfield

The Illinois School and Campus Safety Program is pleased to announce a session of the the Preventing Targeted Violence Through Leakage and Cyber Investigations class will be held March 4-5, 2024, in Plainfield, IL. Class objectives include:

• Why it is important NOT to disregard information given to LEO or school officials.
• What the term "Leakage" means and how we can interpret the information.
• Learn free and open source online investigative tools into social networks and App generated phone numbers.
• Learn to identify and collect cyber evidence to identify suspects.
• Learn the three-step process in investigating internet crimes.
• Learn the importance of Preservation, Exigent Circumstances, and Search Warrants.
• Learn how to obtain IP's, screen names, screen captures, and email headers.
• State laws: Terrorist Threat, Falsely Making a Terrorist Threat, Swatting, and Causing a Catastrophe.
• Suspect search warrant, arrest, interrogation, and mental health evaluation.
• Examine a successful cyber-crime case study investigation from start to finish.
