A Message from the Director of College Counseling: |
Dear Carondelet Community,
As we transition into the second semester, Carondelet staff and teachers are hard at work. They are leading engaging classes, while also preparing for a wide range of upcoming events and activities. From retreats and athletic events to school dances, this semester promises to be filled with exciting opportunities for students to learn, connect, and have fun!
One such opportunity for juniors is College Kickstart! The first session, hosted by College Counselors, will take place on Saturday, January 25. During this workshop, students will identify their college criteria, begin researching colleges, and learn what steps they should take to prepare for the application process. Additional College Kickstart sessions in June and August will guide students through crafting their college essays and working on their actual applications.
Ninth through 11th graders will also be meeting with College Counselors to select their classes for next year: Freshmen will meet with Counselor Nichole Pera from January 21 through March 6, sophomores will meet with their College Counselor between January 21 and February 7, and juniors will have scheduling meetings from February 10 to March 7. Although it seems early in the year to be doing this, it takes time to build schedules for every student. Students have access to the Schoology Scheduling Hub, which contains helpful resources to navigate the course selection process.
Although seniors won't be choosing classes for next year, they will be focusing on solidifying their post-high school plans. With all the exciting senior activities planned for the spring, it's easy to fall into the trap of senioritis. Please remind seniors to stay motivated, keep up with their studies, and finish strong in their classes. We look forward to celebrating all of their accomplishments throughout the upcoming months!

Please join us on Wednesday, January 29 as we discuss one of the criteria to consider when researching colleges: Location! This Lunch & Learn will cover what to think about when it comes to both geographic region and the setting of your future alma mater. We'll also learn about a handful of schools that fall into the different settings that we've talked about so you can get a sense of how that makes each school unique. Register here.

Following our Student Handbook expectations (including wearing the proper uniform), is an important way we show respect and commitment to our community values. If you need more information about our uniform program, please visit our website.
We want to partner with parents and guardians to ensure all students meet uniform expectations this semester. Please take a moment to check in with your student(s) and confirm that they have the appropriate uniform pieces ready for school.
To help maintain our standards:
-
Multiple uniform violations will result in a 30-minute detention and parent notification.
-
In certain cases, students may also be asked to change by the Dean of Students’ team to ensure compliance with the dress code.
We appreciate your support and understanding as we work together to uphold our community values.
