January 19th @SauganashCPS Newsletter!!

Week 19

Team Sauganash came ready on this shortened week. We appreciate all of our parents getting the students here this week even with the inclement and cold weather. We have begun our middle of the year (MOY) assessments with iReady for K-2 and Star 360 for grades 3-8th. These assessments in reading & math will be completed over the next two weeks and give us some great feedback at the midway point. When all of the assessments are completed we will be sending home the MOY parent reports.

Yesterday our students showcased their talents in our 5-8th school-wide spelling bee. You can read more below about our 2024 spelling bee and school champion Chloe Zilske (7th).

Thursday night was our Friends of Sauganash Bingo Night and it did not disappoint. The students won some great prizes in a jam packed Zalinski Cafeteria. Thank you to Michelle Nolte for chairing and organizing the event. We also had a record selling concession stand, compliments of our 7th grade Washington DC group! Looking for more fun events in future months!

*New Reminders*

Please make sure your child has GYM shoes with them. On PE days it is of course imperative and part of their participation grade but we also have indoor recess too where gym shoes are needed.

2024 Spelling Bee

Another successful spelling bee in the books. Congrats to the below contestants for their amazing work this year. A special thanks to our judges Mrs. French & Mr. Ciucci. Mr Lundak our MC/moderator. And our organizers Mrs. Kurzydlo and out of retirement to help out Mrs. Biesty! This year's champion was 7th grader, Chloe Zilske, Congratulations. Chloe will go on to compete in the CPS citywide competition. Our runner up and alternate was 6th grader Charlotte Preusser. Again congrats to all the participants, we are very proud of you and your amazing spelling ability! Good luck to Chloe!
