Bible Readings for January 4, 2025
The Epistle of St. Paul to the Colossians (1:21-29)
And you who were once estranged and hostile in mind, doing evil deeds, he has now reconciled in his fleshly body through death, so as to present you holy and blameless and irreproachable before him—provided that you continue securely established and steadfast in the faith, without shifting from the hope promised by the gospel that you heard, which has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven. I, Paul, became a servant of this gospel.
I am now rejoicing in my sufferings for your sake, and in my flesh I am completing what is lacking in Christ's afflictions for the sake of his body, that is, the church. I became its servant according to God's commission that was given to me for you, to make the word of God fully known, the mystery that has been hidden throughout the ages and generations but has now been revealed to his saints. To them God chose to make known how great among the Gentiles are the riches of the glory of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory. It is he whom we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone in all wisdom, so that we may present everyone mature in Christ. For this I toil and struggle with all the energy that he powerfully inspires within me.
Պօղոս Առաքեալի Կողմէ Կողոսացիներուն Գրուած Նամակէն (1:21-29)
Դուք ալ ժամանակին Աստուծմէ օտարացած էիք եւ թշնամացած իրեն՝ ձեր մտածելակերպով ու չար գործերով։ Բայց այժմ Քրիստոս իր մարդեղութեամբն ու մահուամբը ձեզ հաշտեցուց Աստուծոյ հետ, որպէսզի դուք անոր ներկայանաք մաքուր, անբիծ եւ անարատ։ Ուստի յարատեւեցէ՛ք ձեր հաւատքին մէջ, զայն ամուր հիմերու վրայ հաստատելով, անխախտ պահելով այն յոյսը՝ որ ունեցաք Աւետարանի քարոզութիւնը լսելով։ Ես՝Պօղոսս, ինքս ալ ծառայ մըն եմ այդ Աւետարանին, որ երկինքի տակ գտնուող բոլոր արարածներուն կը քարոզուի։
Եւ հիմա, ուրախ եմ չարչարանքներուս մէջ, որ ձեր սիրոյն կը կրեմ, որովհետեւ Քրիստոսի կրած նեղութիւններուն պակասը իմ մարմինիս մէջ կ՚ամբողջացնեմ՝ անոր մարմինին համար, որ եկեղեցին է։ Եւ ես եկեղեցիին ծառայ եղայ՝ իբրեւ Աստուծոյ կողմէ տրուած պարտականութիւն, որպէսզի իր ամբողջութեանը մէջ ձեզի քարոզեմ Աստուծոյ խօսքը, փրկութեան այն ծրագիրը՝ որ Աստուած անցեալ բոլոր դարերուն մարդկութեան բոլոր սերունդներէն ծածուկ պահած էր, եւ որ հիմա յայտնեց իր ընտրեալներուն։ Աստուած ուզեց անոնց ցոյց տալ՝ թէ ի՜նչ հարուստ ու փառաւոր է իր ծրագիրը, որ կը վերաբերի բոլոր ազգերուն. եւ այդ ծրագիրն է՝ Քրիստոսը ճանչցնել ձեզի, գալիք փառքին յոյսով։ Ուստի մենք Քրիստոսը կը քարոզենք, հոգեւոր իմաստութեան բոլոր միջոցներով խրատելով բոլոր մարդիկը եւ ուսուցանելով բոլոր մարդոց, որպէսզի բոլորն ալ Աստուծոյ դիմաց կանգնեցնենք՝ Յիսուս Քրիստոսի միացած եւ հոգեւորապէս կատարեալ։ Ատոր համար է որ կ՚աշխատիմ ու կը պայքարիմ, այն ոյժովը՝ որ իմ մէջս կը գործէ զօրեղապէս։
The Holy Gospel of Jesus Christ according to St. John
(10:11-16)
I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep. The hired hand, who is not the shepherd and does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and runs away—and the wolf snatches them and scatters them. The hired hand runs away because a hired hand does not care for the sheep. I am the good shepherd. I know my own and my own know me, just as the Father knows me and I know the Father. And I lay down my life for the sheep.
Յիսուս Քրիստոսի Աւետարանէն Ըստ Յովհաննու (10:11-16)
Ե՛ս եմ իրաւ հովիւը։ Իրաւ հովիւը իր կեանքը կու տայ ոչխարներուն համար. մինչ վարձկանը, որ հովիւ չէ եւ որուն չեն պատկանիր ոչխարները, երբ կը տեսնէ որ գայլը կու գայ՝ կը լքէ ոչխարները ու կը փախչի, ձգելով որ գայլը յափշտակէ եւ ցրուէ ոչխարները, որովհետեւ վարձկանը չի մտահոգուիր ոչխարներուն վիճակով։ Ե՛ս եմ իրաւ հովիւը։ Կը ճանչնամ ոչխարներս եւ անոնք ալ զիս կը ճանչնան, այնպէս՝ ինչպէս Հայրը զիս կը ճանչնայ եւ ես՝ Հայրը։ Ես կեանքս կու տամ ոչխարներուս համար։ Տակաւին ուրիշ ոչխարներ ալ ունիմ, որոնք այս փարախէն դուրս են. պարտաւոր եմ զանոնք եւս ներս բերել։ Անոնք ալ ինծի մտիկ պիտի ընեն, եւ պիտի ըլլան մէկ հօտ՝ մէկ հովիւով։
