My speech and my proclamation were not with plausible words of wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
so that your faith might rest not on human wisdom but on the power of God.
Yet among the mature we do speak wisdom, though it is not a wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are doomed to perish. But we speak God's wisdom, secret and hidden, which God decreed before the ages for our glory.
1 Corinthians 2:4-8

Salt Shakers
Everyone is Invited!
It's time to form new Salt Shaker groups! If you are not already a part of this opportunity for fun and fellowship for couples and single adults of all ages, then now is the time to join!
Here's How It Works
Participants will randomly be assigned to groups of approximately 8 for a meal during the months of February - April and come August, we will regroup again. A willing host is designated for each gathering and the group works together to find an agreed upon date. The host provided the main dish and the others fill in with an appetizer, side dishes, and dessert. Some groups choose to meet at a favorite restaurant for dinner or lunch - anything goes - it's up to the group!
Sign up now to join with other Salt Shakers!
Please send your name, address, phone #, and email address to the office at
[email protected].

Lunch & Learn
Save the Date. Join us for a new faith formation series, "More or Less." For three Sundays in the new year, we'll gather together for food and conversation, ending with a trip to see TheoEd Talks in Atlanta. TheoEd Talks is a faith-based speaker series, modeled after the popular TedTalks series, that brings together leading thinkers in the church and the academy to give the talk of their lives in 20 minutes or less. For the first two weeks of our series, we'll stay after worship for a Lunch & Learn where we'll engage with the work of one of this year's TheoEd speakers, Jeff Shinabarger. Using Shinabarger's book More or Less: Choosing a Life of Excessive Generosity to guide our conversation, we'll consider how our faith can inform how we live into God's abundance in a world that says we never have "enough."
January 26: Lunch & Learn, Noon - 1:30 p.m.
February 2: Lunch & Learn, Noon - 1:30 p.m.
February 9: TheoEd Talks event at First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta, 4 p.m.
Cost is $30, which includes both lunches and a ticket to TheoEd Talks, and free childcare will be available. Register at the link below or in the church office. Please
make checks payable to Eastminster Presbyterian Church and include "More or Less" in the subject line. Contact Anne Galliher with questions at [email protected] or (704) 682-8434.

The Eastminster Clothes Closet functions as a distribution point for donations from our congregation. Clothing that is in good shape and currently in style is collected and sorted for various uses. A large amount will go to Mission Haven for the use of Presbyterian missionaries and the families of Columbia Seminary students. Depending on condition and needs the rest will be distributed to Lilburn Coop, Clifton Night Sanctuary for Men, and various channels to the immigrant community.
We can also accept household items like linens and kitchen equipment. We do ask if things are not in good condition that you take them directly to Salvation Army or Goodwill.
Mission Haven is currently in need of winter coats, scarves, gloves and hats for all. There is a big need for men's small clothing, and dresses for women in all sizes. Mission Haven provides clothing from underwear to overcoats from newborns to XXL men.
Donations can be brought to the church Clothes Closet/room 210 on the first floor, near the Church Office. The door is locked, but donations can be left outside the door if a staff person is unavailable to open it.
If you are interested in helping distribute the clothing to Lilburn Coop and other places or have questions about donations, please contact Susan Adle at 770-498-0532.
