Meet The Author:
Paula Tarnapol Whitacre

Friday, January 26
11:30 am - 12:30 pm

From the author:

"The book that I just published-called A Civil Life in an Uncivil Time: Julia Wilbur's Struggle for Purpose - is about an abolitionist from upstate New York who came to Alexandria, VA (my current residence) during the Civil War.
The book has Connecticut connections, in the form of a surgeon named Edwin Bentley (New London/Norwich) and a minister named Albert Gladwin (Essex...actually one of the villains of the story). But as the title suggests, I also tried to write a book that uses history to challenge people about how they can make choices to lead a "civil life." "
