Peabody 2017 National Geographic Bee

Congratulations to Ronak A. for winning the Peabody competition of the 2017 National Geographic Bee, and also to Danny V.  for being the first runner up!  Thousands of schools around the U.S. are participating in the 2017 Bee.  Ronak will take a written test to possibly qualify as one of the top 100 scorers in Virginia.  If eligible, he will have the opportunity to compete in the state Bee on March 31st, at Longwood University.  The state winners participate in the national championship in Washington, D.C., May 15-17 where the first place winner will receive a $50,000 college scholarship and other prizes.  The national finals will be shown on television May 19th on the National Geographic Channel.  Our best wishes go to Ronak!

Health Reminder
There have been several children and staff members under the weather lately so now is a good time to remind everyone that children showing symptoms of illness are not permitted to stay at school, and are sent home if symptoms appear while at school. All communicable diseases, fever, diarrhea, vomiting, or infected discharge from nose or eyes are considered reasons to stay home. When a child has any of these symptoms, please wait 24 hours  after they are gone before sending the child back to school. Thank you for your cooperation as we strive to have a healthy and happy students/teachers at Peabody School.

Grandparents and Special Friend's Day
Friday, March 31st, 9 am to 12 pm

Peabody is excited to be hosting Grandparents and Special Friend’s Day this year for the Lower School students (grades K-5) on Friday, March 31st. Our day will begin with coffee, baked goods and a welcome to our guests from our Head of School, Rob Orlando. Each grandparent or special friend will then have a chance to spend time in their Peabody student(s) classroom with some special activities along the way.

If you haven't done so already, please be sure to fill out the "Grandparents Plus Program" in the Peabody Parent Portal so we can send a personalized invitation to your student's Grandparent(s) or Special Friend(s).

This day is particularly memorable because it allows grandparents and special friends to experience just how our Peabody students spend their time on a day to day basis.
