Net-Working It! for a Cause - Partner Charity Giving
Welcome to a new year of Net-Working It! for a Cause. We kicked off 2020 with Batavia RSVP, Inc. as our charity spotlight partner. More than 50 people enjoyed Pal Joey’s delicious pizza and wings, while making new acquaintances or renewing previous business friendships.

While we networked, several board members from RSVP told us about how the all-volunteer nonprofit provides services to Batavia residents age 65 and above. Their goal is to help seniors live independently and to maintain as high of a quality of life as possible. RSVP is always looking for volunteers – especially those who can drive seniors to doctor appointments during the day. Call (630) 406-9993 to learn more.

A big thank you to our attendees - with your help we raised $415 for our partner charity! Thank you, too, to John Hamel and Pal Joey’s for graciously hosting us.

Net-Working It! for a Cause inspires more giving…

Moose International and Moose Charities employees learned about Marklund at our September 2019 Net-Working It! at My Place Hotel. They were so impressed with the nonprofit that they chose it to be their community service recipient for the months of November and December 2019. Their efforts netted a $1,562.75 for Marklund!

According to Janet Corah and Dan McGuffin of the Moose International Community Service Committee, their giving program began in April 2016. Every two months the committee selects a worthy charitable mission that the employees may donate to in exchange for employee perks. Since December of 2014, over $44,000 and numerous wish list items have been given to 38 different recipients. Well done!

Kane County Chronicle's Mark Foster chatted with Nan Phillips, Batavia's Citizen of the Year. Learn more about this wonderful woman by reading Mark's article. We are thrilled to honor Nan at Thursday's Inspire 2020 Event!

BATAVIA – After a distinguished career in the Batavia School District, Nan Phillips retired in 2011. Except she didn’t actually retire.

Instead, Phillips channeled her energy and work ethic into a new career as a Batavia volunteer, using the experience and understanding she gained from her work in the schools to tackle new challenges.

Notably, Phillips was instrumental in the creation of the Hall of Honor at Batavia High School and the formation of the CHIP IN Batavia program designed to help students in need of temporary housing and other assistance.

Friends, professional colleagues and fellow volunteers describe Phillips as a tireless worker who has made Batavia a better place to live. Read the entire story .

How the Batavia Public School District is Supporting Their Teachers’ Education Needs

January 15, 2020 - Batavia Public School District (BPS101) stands by its motto, “Always Learning. Always Growing.”, for its students and staff. So, when teachers want to continue their education but costs and time get in their way, we get creative. Enter the birth of Batavia Public School University (BPSU).

Collaborating with the Batavia Education Association (BEA), BPS101 Administrators worked to develop a plan to give teachers authentic learning opportunities that directly connect to the classroom and the District's strategic plan. Read the entire news release.
