January 2016
Greetings Culinarians and Associates,
I hope all are rested and well after the holidays. Spending time with family and friends and decompressing a little to get charged for 2016.
2016 looks to be an eventful year. The governors ball will be planned this year and executed in the first couple weeks of January 2017. That event alone is a monumental task and will require support from all of our members. We are going to try and bid on the Special Olympics sack lunches for June. I have heard rumors that the summer Special Olympics might not be in our area if the military go ahead with their plans at a remodel of the games area. I am looking into that.
We have student competitions coming up on January 30th at RTC, practical exams at RTC on February 20th and Randy Torres educational segment on completion platters also on the same day.
AAC Dinner
The AAC dinner is at BTC on March 5th. Chef Baldwin has some rooms blocked out for overnight stays. It will be a seven course meal for 110 people. Promises to be a great night.
Salon Competition
Our first International Salon competition in May at BTC will be the largest yet. Make sure to book now because it is filling up.

Annual Elections
We had our annual elections for three board positions and the president and secretary positions. I was re-elected as president for two more years. JJ Meland was elected as secretary for two years. Janet has been our secretary for multiple terms and has done an exceptional job. Thank you Janet for all your help and support. I look forward to your support as one of the newly elected board members. The other two positions filled by Lyle Hyldahl and Daniel Griffith. I can't wait to start the year with our new board.
John Fisher's retirement party at RTC last December brought out many past students that John had mentored and many of his friends from over the years. The guests that got up to speak about John and tell stories just told us what we already knew about John's dedication, selflessness and professionalism. His active roll at RTC will be missed but John promises to make some appearances for special events and competitions while settling down on the beach. Thank you to all that came out to see John and say thank you for all he has done.
