Happy New Year! We wish everyone
 a happy and healthy 2018.

This brutally cold weather has reminded us
how thankful  we are to so many wonderful volunteers willing to work outside, withstanding the elements, in order to build a safe, warm and affordable home.    Thank you!

In this issue, you'll find everything you need to know about what has been going on at Habitat Cape Cod over the past few weeks. Learn about upcoming events, meet Volunteer in the Spotlight Tim Stoll, and see some great photos of volunteers and friends.

Truro needs volunteers! Everyone says its a super fun time, its just a little bit of a drive.... Most of the hard work's already been done, c'mon......

Email Tara@habitatcapecod.org for details.

Spring is practically, almost, on its way.

Special thanks to Julie Swanbeck and her students from  Falmouth Academy  for holding a "shingle sale" fundraiser to benefit Habitat Cape Cod. The volunteers and future homeowners loved the positive messages on each shingle!

VOLUNTEER IN THE SPOTLIGHT
Construction Crew Leader, Tim Stoll
Tim Stoll is a familiar face to those that have helped to build the recent homes in Chatham, Brewster and Truro. He loves working with his hands, being outside in any type of weather and helping people. Which makes him a perfect fit with Habitat Cape Cod!

Thank you to the Kelley Foundation, Cape Cod Foundation and the St. Barnabas Church Behren's Fund for  recently awarded grants for the start-up of the new store in Falmouth, including funds that will help support: the purchase of our Falmouth truck, store technology, and the interior racking and set up. We are still awaiting news on a few more critical grants  that will ensure a strong opening of our 2nd ReStore. We appreciate these special friends who are investing in the future of Habitat Cape Cod.

Behind the scenes at Yarmouth ReStore, John Hall has been leading a small group of volunteers, replacing carpet in one of our showrooms with commercial tile, while at Falmouth ReStore, Barry Clickstein is working with a crew installing a customer service counter and cabinets in the new kitchen, building work benches, and putting up bead board.

We continue to have GREAT merchandise at GREAT prices,
follow our ReStore Facebook   page to keep up with all the great products and deals.

TownewsTOWN NEWS

Wellfleet
On January 3rd, the Wellfleet Planning Board voted affirmatively on approvals for our 2-home project at 2082 Route 6. The Community Preservation Committee will be recommending $240,000 in funding support at spring town meeting. We appreciate the great support by the community including the Wellfleet Housing Authority,
who contributed the land for these homes.

Dennis
This December we received the great news of a $83,970 funding award granted by Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, sponsored by our friends at Cape Cod Five Cents Savings. These funds will support construction of three homes,  30 and 34 Janall Drive and 98 South Yarmouth Road. Home applications will be opened in February. The Town of Dennis donated the land at 98 South Yarmouth Road and is supporting construction of all 3 homes with a CPC grant voted at their fall town meeting.

Harwich
93-97 Route 28, Harwich is the future site of 6 homes.
We closed on the purchase of this property (the rear section) on January 5th with the support of Harwich Affordable Housing funds voted by the Board of Selectmen. Our application for CPC funds is under consideration by the committee.

Mashpee
The CPC voted $167,000 in funding support for three homes in Mashpee, on two sites. We will still need the support of Town Meeting voters in the spring.

Falmouth
We are assembling our comprehensive permit application to the Zoning Board of Appeals for the 12 homes on Barrows Road.
