Happy New Year! We wish everyone
 a happy and healthy 2018.

how thankful  we are to so many wonderful volunteers willing to work outside, withstanding the elements, in order to build a safe, warm and affordable home.    Thank you!

Thank you to our Office Team Volunteers for

reviewing the 59 applications we received for the upcoming build in Marstons Mills.

This team assists applicants in completing their application before it is passed on to our "credit team" - the volunteers who review financial eligibility and ability to pay.

Truro needs volunteers! Everyone says its a super fun time, its just a little bit of a drive.... Most of the hard work's already been done, c'mon......

Email Tara@habitatcapecod.org for details.
Spring is practically, almost, on its way.

Special thanks to Julie Swanbeck and her students from  Falmouth Academy  for holding a "shingle sale" fundraiser to benefit Habitat Cape Cod. The volunteers and future homeowners loved the positive messages on each shingle!

Construction Crew Leader, Tim Stoll
Tim Stoll is a familiar face to those that have helped to build the recent homes in Chatham, Brewster and Truro. He loves working with his hands, being outside in any type of weather and helping people. Which makes him a perfect fit with Habitat Cape Cod!
 Yarmouth ReStore Winter Hours:
Tuesday - Saturday, 9am to 5pm

ReStore is Hiring (soon)! With Peter Small's anticipated promotion and transfer to Falmouth ReStore as  Manager, new employment opportunities will include Falmouth Assistant Manager, Yarmouth Assistant Manager, and other new positions for drivers/associates. These are physical jobs for people-persons, with an enthusiasm for Habitat and experience relevant to our ReStore retail/warehouse operations.

Know someone terrific?
Tell them to watch our social media pages and website for  job
postings next week.

The Falmouth ReStore will also be looking for volunteers soon,
if you are interested please email Peter at Peter@habitatcapecod.org

You can also stop and visit Peter at the 2nd Annual Engage Falmouth Volunteer Fair on Sunday, January 28th at the Waquoit Congregational Church, 15 Parsons Lane, Waquoit
(just off of Rt. 28).  Event is 3-6 pm

Thank you to the Kelley Foundation, Cape Cod Foundation and the St. Barnabas Church Behren's Fund for  recently awarded grants for the start-up of the new store in Falmouth, including funds that will help support: the purchase of our Falmouth truck, store technology, and the interior racking and set up. We are still awaiting news on a few more critical grants  that will ensure a strong opening of our 2nd ReStore. We appreciate these special friends who are investing in the future of Habitat Cape Cod.

Behind the scenes at Yarmouth ReStore, John Hall has been leading a small group of volunteers, replacing carpet in one of our showrooms with commercial tile, while at Falmouth ReStore, Barry Clickstein is working with a crew installing a customer service counter and cabinets in the new kitchen, building work benches, and putting up bead board.
We continue to have GREAT merchandise at GREAT prices,
follow our ReStore Facebook   page to keep up with all the great products and deals.

On January 3rd, the Wellfleet Planning Board voted affirmatively on approvals for our 2-home project at 2082 Route 6. The Community Preservation Committee will be recommending $240,000 in funding support at spring town meeting. We appreciate the great support by the community including the Wellfleet Housing Authority,
who contributed the land for these homes.
This December we received the great news of a $83,970 funding award granted by Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston, sponsored by our friends at Cape Cod Five Cents Savings. These funds will support construction of three homes,  30 and 34 Janall Drive and 98 South Yarmouth Road. Home applications will be opened in February. The Town of Dennis donated the land at 98 South Yarmouth Road and is supporting construction of all 3 homes with a CPC grant voted at their fall town meeting.
93-97 Route 28, Harwich is the future site of 6 homes.
We closed on the purchase of this property (the rear section) on January 5th with the support of Harwich Affordable Housing funds voted by the Board of Selectmen. Our application for CPC funds is under consideration by the committee.
The CPC voted $167,000 in funding support for three homes in Mashpee, on two sites. We will still need the support of Town Meeting voters in the spring.
We are assembling our comprehensive permit application to the Zoning Board of Appeals for the 12 homes on Barrows Road.

Paul Hush Way, Brewster
Roofs have been shingled on all the homes.
Sub-contractors continue to do their "Rough Ins".

brought a hot lunch to volunteers on  Paul Hush Way in December!

National Grid Team  D ay, Tuesday, December 12th, Paul Hush Way
National Grid recently made a $10,000 donation to Habitat Cape Cod!

Special thanks to Joanne Broderick, Nancy Smith, Cathy Kautz and Ed Ebert

We thank these Paul Hush Way home sponsors: Charlesbank Homes, Brewster Baptist Church, Nancy Douttiel, Brewster Faith Build and the Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Cape Cod, and partial home sponsors, Cape and Islands United Way, Bank of America Foundation, Bennett Family Foundation and the Elizabeth Anton Fund.  First Parish Brewster and Janet Taylor are already on board to fully sponsor homes in Phase 2 on Paul Hush Way!
