SUFFOLK STUDENTS OVERWHELMED
BY PUPPIES & RED SOX PLAYER
The Boston Red Sox teamed up with The Great Dog Rescue New England to bring six-week-old puppies to see students during their #TheGiftofSox promotion.

Among the players in attendance were Brock Holt, Matt Barnes, Deven Marrero, and Brian Johnson. About two hundred students gave the puppies and players a warm welcome in our Sawyer lobby - a great way to spend the day before final exams!
SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY'S BOURIKAS NAMED NATIONAL PLAYER OF THE WEEK
The accolades keep coming for Suffolk University women’s basketball player Georgia Bourikas , a senior fine arts major. This week she was recognized by the United States Basketball Writers Association (USBWA) and named Division III Women’s Basketball National Player of the Week.

Bourikas is the first student-athlete in the program to earn this honor since the award began in the 2014-15 season.
SUFFOLK/USA TODAY POLL:
74% SAY HARASSMENT MUST BE ADDRESSED SERIOUSLY
Sexual harassment in the workplace is a major issue that has to be addressed in a serious way, according to 74 percent of American voters responding to a Suffolk University/USA Today national poll.

Fifty-nine percent said they believe the accounts of women accusing prominent men of sexual harassment, while 5 percent believe these men’s denials, and 35 percent are undecided, according to the poll.

Voters’ ire may have far-reaching policy and political implications.
2017 BEST SHORT STORIES DRAW FROM SUFFOLK'S LITERARY JOURNAL
Two noted literary collections have chosen short stories first published in Suffolk’s  Salamander journal for their 2017 collections.

The O. Henry Prize Stories for 2017 includes two Salamander pieces: “Floating Garden,” by Mary LaChapelle , and “Blue Dot,” by Keith Eisner .

Meanwhile, The Best Short Stories of 2017 includes another Salamander  selection: "Gabe Dove," by Sonya Larson .
BIOTECH EXECUTIVE ELECTED TO SUFFOLK UNIVERSITY'S BOARD OF TRUSTEES
Suffolk University Law School alumna Dr. Ivana Magovcevic-Liebisch – a leader in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries – has been elected as a charter trustee by the Suffolk University Board.

Dr. Magovcevic-Liebisch is executive vice president and chief strategy and corporate development officer for Axcella Health, Inc., in Cambridge, a company that is developing amino-acids-based therapeutics for a wide range of diseases. She has extensive senior-management-level experience in critical roles in several successful biotechnology companies.
SUFFOLK LAW TO OFFER ACCELERATED JD
Suffolk University Law School will offer an  accelerated JD program  beginning in May 2018 that will allow students to earn a juris doctor in as little as 24 months or, for part-time evening students, 36 months.

Suffolk Law’s accelerated JD is the only program in Massachusetts that enables students to earn a law degree in fewer than three years -- and one of only 21 nationwide.
