Making all things new

Happy New Year!

Our guests come from a variety of religious traditions, many of which celebrate a 'new year' at some other time. But what we all have in common is  that at the close of December a new calendar year is beginning. For some that reality encourages the making of 'resolutions.' For others it means the chance to re-group and hope for a better year than the one we have left behind. For some it is the close of one chapter in life and the opening of another.

We here at the Transfiguration Spirituality Center are looking at the next few months as a time of transition from one chapter to another. Our founding Executive Director, Toni Thomas-Feren, has been looking forward and will be retiring on March 1. Toni has been the heart of this ministry since its inception, and already we are feeling how much she will be missed by staff and guests.  We are all grateful that she will continue in a part-time capacity until the end of May. What we know is that there will be new adventures ahead for us and for her.

For those of us observing the Christian calendar, Lent will be upon us before you know it! This year we are offering a both a mini series, "Faces of Peace, Faces of Change" led by local university faculty and a Pre-Lenten Retreat led by the Rev. Mary Laymon. More information is available about both of these experiences in this newsletter.  If you would like more information on either of these, please contact the office at 513.771.2171.

Our weekends are always the most popular for groups. If you would like to make a reservation for a group or an individual retreat, please call now 513.771.2171 or email us at [email protected]. We are accepting reservations for 2018 through 2020.

PRE-LENTEN RETREAT LED BY THE REV. MARY LAYMON
JOIN US FEBRUARY 9-10

W holeness is a lifelong journey. Sometimes a relationship needs repair, other times we need to be opened up to joy, learn how to play, release an old anger, feel our grief, or find our way home from an addiction. Every Lent is an opportunity to invite God's healing power more deeply into our life.

Join us for a weekend that will help prepare you for a Healing Lent. We will begin our retreat with the question: "What needs to heal in me this Lent?" We will then explore a variety of disciplines and discern "Which discipline, if I practice it for 40 days, will welcome God's healing into my life?"

We have limit of 20 single rooms, or 17 singles and 3 doubles. Commuters are welcome at a cost of $60. Cost: $140/single, $125/double. Includes 4 meals, room, and materials.

On-line Registration is available through this link.
You can also register via email at [email protected] or by calling 513.771.2171.

A prayer for changing times
O God of unchangeable power and eternal light: let the whole world see and know that things which were cast down are being raised up, and things which had grown old are being made new, and that all things are being brought to their perfection through your holy will. Amen
Modified from BCP p. 528.

May we all find the courage to face the transitions life has in store, and be kind to ourselves on the journey.

Blessings,
(The Rev.) Anne Reed
