Parking By-Law Changes
The City’s Transportation and Works Department recently recommended that daily overnight parking restrictions be introduced from 2 to 6 a.m. and that on-street parking increase from three hours to five hours.
Pending Council approval, the five hour on-street parking maximum will take effect in January 2018 and the overnight restrictions will start in April 2018. For more information visit: mississauga.ca/portal/residents/parkingbylaw.
Regulation of Short-Term Accommodations
A staff report recommended amending the Zoning By-law to regulate short-term accommodations (STAs) in the City. This would allow STAs in primary residences, subject to conditions. The proposed amendments clarify how residents can share their principal residences with others, while limiting the potential impact on housing availability and affordability. They also provide additional protection to buildings and neighbourhoods. For more information, visit here.
City to Offer Free Simplified Tax Receipts Online for Property Owners
The City of Mississauga will offer property owners the chance to view and print a Simplified Tax Receipt online for free. Starting December 15, property owners can submit a request for a Simplified Tax Receipt through the City's Tax Self-Service Centre website for the current year and one year prior. For a list of other online tax services, visit the Tax Self-Service Centre at mississauga.ca/portal/services/taxselfservice.
City to Strengthen Control of Grass Height and Nuisance Weeds
City of Mississauga staff recommended actions that would enhance the City’s Nuisance Weed and Tall Grass Control By-law. The proposed amendments includes decreasing the maximum permitted height of tall grass from 30 centimetres to 20 centimetres, reducing the time required to resolve tall grass and nuisance weed complaints from 10 to seven days, as well as updating the list of 12 noxious weeds to 25. The proposed amendments will ensure Mississauga remains consistent with other municipalities. For more information, visit here.
