City of Hobart
The City of Hobart is a leader in green efforts in Northern Indiana. Under the leadership of Mayor Brian Snedecor, the city has embraced a host of sustainable fueling options for city vehicles, including compressed natural gas vehicles in the Public Works fleet.

Annual Survey
South Shore Clean Cities collects data annually from stakeholders to produce a coalition report for the U.S. Department of Energy. The report reflects all the great work Northern Indiana has accomplished with alternative fuels and reducing our environmental footprint, provides opportunities for funding alternative fuel projects, helps promote our coalition and determines awardees for our Annual Meeting & Awards!

Green Fleet Radio to Debut
South Shore Clean Cities and Lakeshore Public Radio are collaborating to produce a new radio show "Green Fleet Radio". The new segment will air every Wednesday at 7:23 a.m. CST during "Morning Edition;" between 12 p.m. and 1 p.m. during "Regionally Speaking" and at 4:21 p.m. during "All Things Considered".

Clean Streets,  Cleaner Air for Rockport
Rockport Mayor Gay Ann Harney and Street Department Superintendent Darren Ewing appeared in a photo in the Spencer County Journal (right) standing in front of the city's new street sweeper. The 2017 Tymco Model 600 sweeper was delivered on November 15 and was acquired through a $230,000 grant with the assistance of South Shore Clean Cities.
New Year Brings Hope for Greener Practices
The start of a new year is filled with optimism, a time to begin anew with a clean slate and hope for a better tomorrow.

Those of us in the environmental sector are in the business of hope. Much of our work in the sustainable transportation and clean energy sectors is focused on long-term, cumulative solutions. While the results are undoubtedly measurable - in emissions reductions, cost savings and improved air quality - they aren't always easy to envision.
