We are thrilled to announce the launch of
Eureka!
. This Girls Inc. signature program is a STEM-based approach to engaging and empowering 8th - 12th grade girls to see themselves as an important part of the workforce of the future.
During the Eureka! program, girls participate in a variety of exciting and compelling activities that explore the cutting-edge world of STEM through hands-on experiences in a college campus environment. With complementary activities in sports and physical fitness, healthy living, and financial literacy, Eureka! fully fosters educational, professional, and personal development.
Thank you to Macquarie Investment Management and the Macquarie Group Foundation for the financial support that made the launch of our Eureka! program possible. We are also excited to partner with Drexel University for STEM experiences and with Penn Athletics for sports, health, and wellness for the Eureka! program. On partnering for this program Simi Hoque, Associate Professor of Architectural Engineering at Drexel University said, "W
e are really looking forward to working with Girls Inc. to launch Eureka! on Drexel’s campus in July 2019. This is an opportunity to make a huge difference. We are excited to partner with Dr. Adam Fontecchio who is the Director of the Center for the Advancement of STEM Teaching and Learning Excellent (CASTLE) and involve PhD-level STEM teaching experts from CASTLE to help create STEM curriculum that is experiential, relevant and engaging."

We are so grateful for our hardworking and dedicated staff! This month, we celebrated the work anniversaries of Dena Herrin, Brionna Pendleton, Simone Roberts, and Cherice Arrington. We are also thrilled to announce that both Simone and Cherice will be transitioning into new roles within our organization. Simone will be our new Education & Outreach Coordinator and Cherice will now be our Associate Director of Programs & Advocacy.

|
Cherice Arrington has worked with Girls Inc. of Greater Philadelphia & Southern New Jersey for eleven years. Through her leadership, the Girls Inc. Operation SMART program has grown substantially and is now serving over 500 girls in 1st-8th grades in Philadelphia and Camden. Her initiative has led to the program becoming one of the most widely-funded and popular programs for Girls Inc. The organization now offers a range of Operation SMART programs ranging from robotics, aerospace engineering, environmental science, coding, and math initiatives. Cherice is now a National Girls Inc. Trainer for the Operation SMART program and will lead the newly launched Eureka! program. Cherice holds a Masters of Science in Education from St. Joseph's University.

Simone Roberts is a Girls Inc. alumna. In 2015, she graduated from Temple University, with her B.A. in Strategic Communications with a concentration in Public Relations. During her undergraduate career, she returned to Girls Inc. as an intern. While interning, she helped co-found the Ambassador Club, a leadership program designed to prepare the next generation of leaders. Once her internship was over, she stayed on to volunteer which turned into a full-time position in December 2016. She is currently enrolled in the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine to obtain a Master of Science in Organizational Development and Leadership.
