Banished Words List

LSSU wordsmiths have released their 44th annual List of Words Banished from the Queen's English for Mis-use, Over-use and General Uselessness.
"We grapple, litigate, and then yeet irritating words and phrases gathered from the nominations and votes received during 2018," said an LSSU-OTUS thought leader from the word-banishment wheelhouse. "It's the most important election of our time." LSSU's word banishment tradition is now in its fifth decade, and was started by the late W. T. Rabe, a public relations director at Lake Superior State University.
Dean's List

There are 434 students who earned Dean's List designation for fall semester 2018. The  List represents those full time students carrying at least 12 credits of college-level courses in a  semester with a grade point average (GPA) of 3.500 or higher, with no incomplete grades.
Please join the Provost's Office in recognizing these students for their outstanding academic  achievement.
Laker Gold

Nursing Students at Commencement

On January 26, a select group of academically talented high school students will compete on campus for the Laker Gold Scholarship. The Laker Gold Scholarship is a distinctive full tuition scholarship that is renewable for four years. Recipients will also receive a partial room and board award ($1,000) with their other merit-based scholarship. The competition is a half day program which includes an essay competition, personal interviews, campus tours, and brunch. Three Laker Gold Scholarships will be awarded. Following the competition, Laker Gold participants and their families are invited to the Laker hockey tailgate beginning at Lukenda Alumni House at 5:30pm that evening. The tailgate, sponsored by the Alumni Association, features pizza, chicken wings, salads, desserts and soft drinks, and is complimentary for Laker Gold participants. All Laker fans are welcome to attend. The hockey Lakers drop the puck against Bemidji - a team one game behind us in the league standings! - at 7:00pm at Taffy Abel Arena.
