Opportunities to Apply for Affordable Housing in North Jersey

Waiting lists for affordable housing units in Bergen County and Newark have opened up for new applications. Don't delay. In Bergen County, there is only a five-day window to apply, from Jan. 14 to Jan. 18. For more details click Here .

Age-Friendly Teaneck Needs More People in the Conversation

Age-Friendly Teaneck has sparked a lot of conversations. About housing, transportation, health, quality of life and ultimately about this essential question: How do we make sure the Township is a place where people can live at all ages and stages of life in safety, comfort and dignity?  To raise the profile of our age-friendly mission, we need more voices to join in these conversations. Plan Ahead: Senior Health and Resource Fair on April 10

Age-Friendly Teaneck will partner once again with Holy Name Medical Center and Teaneck Township to sponsor a Senior Health and Resource Fair at the Richard Rodda Center. Holy Name staff will be providing medical screenings while representatives from social service and community agencies will be available to explain the resources they offer. AARP Opportunities to Learn and Expand Your Awareness

New Jersey has a new sick leave law as well as a decade-old family leave law. AARP New Jersey has created a new website to keep caregivers and others informed about these laws and how to access these benefits when needed. Click Here to visit this new Caregiver Connection page.

Government and Non-Profits Try to Make Help Easier to Find

The Teaneck Department of Health and Human Services relocated its social services offices to the Richard Rodda Center. Through a partnership Age-Friendly Teaneck helped arrange, this office is being staffed by a Master of Social Work candidate to help refer residents to assistance. Read more
