So many books, so little time! <sigh>
On my kindle now, I'm reading
Carrie Callaghan
's fantastic historical fiction
A LIGHT OF HER OWN.
If you, like me, adored Tracy Chevalier’s
Girl with a Pearl Earring,
then you will love Carrie's book!
The reviews have been stunning, such as this one:
"A Light of Her Own, as a portrait of two brave and ambitious Dutch women painters, and a glimpse into17th century life in Holland, is recommended to all fans of historical fiction."
― New York Journal of Books
Visit Carrie's website to learn about her offers for book clubs!
I'm also reading Debbie Macomber's
ANY DREAM WILL DO I love second chance stories), Heather Graham's
WICKED DEEDS (I love her Krewe of Hunters books!), and just finished the last chapter of Jennifer Robson's
AFTER THE WAR IS OVER (I am totally stuck on WW1 stories right now!).
And, that's my well-worn, dog-eared copy of
SPOON RIVER ANTHOLOGY, which I find a completely fascinating American classic from 1915 that fits into my American Lit syllabus for my students when we return for 2nd semester. If you love verse novels, you should give this one a read. Captivating.
An aside about my WW1 fascination - I saw the documentary
THEY SHALL NOT GROW OLD
and if you can see it, I recommend it. Heartbreaking. Amazing.
PS- the Christmas photo on top of my books is my favorite from years past of my two daughters at ages 3 and 5- another precious item that survived our housefire!
to let me know what you're reading!
