Parking lot completed, Training Center in final stages
DEC's new Training Center, under construction since September 2017, is in the final stages. Once the ceiling and carpeting tiles have been replaced, the building will be turned over to the department. Use of the building will begin as furniture is installed in January. The parking lot is completed. The official ribbon-cutting and open house with the mayor is scheduled for March 13.

December in review
Congratulations to RISE Award winner, Chuck Finke
DEC's Communications Officer III Charles L. Finke III was awarded a RISE award from the City of Richmond during the ceremony on Dec. 7. Helping to accept his award was his son, Mitchell, and wife, Christi. He was awarded for his work on Fire Watch, CISM and helping co-workers in need. Congratulations, Chuck! 

Welcome the 30th Basic Dispatch Academy
Four students started the 30th Basic Dispatch Academy on Tuesday, Dec. 11, after a snow day on Monday. We welcome Toni, Briarna, Destini and Sean.

Christmas Parade, Community Walk, presentation in December

DEC's community outreach for 2018 ended with the Christmas Parade on Dec. 1, the Community Walk on Dec. 4, and the 4th District Council meeting on Dec. 6. We passed out 2,000 pencils and shared 911 messages with the estimated 75,000 spectators at the parade. Thanks to everyone who helped!

Congratulations to Tabitha Bethea ,
who correctly answered 1990 for the year that
E.C. Harris displayed the newly installed unrecorded telephone line to receive anonymous tips on illegal drug activities. The answer was found on the DEC website . Tabitha received City of Richmond and DEC goodies as a prize.
