January 15

Deadline for teachers to put in their repertoire and to sign up for CM activities (Branch Honor, Convention). This is for all teachers.

Deadline to change Panel students to regular CM status.

January 30

Deadline for NORTH REGION special preference requests for exam time for students. All teachers can submit your requests to me. Please have a legitimate reason why the student needs a particular date, or time in order to be considered. If you know your student's time need, please send it to me at any time before February 1 date.

February 1

TENTATIVE publish date of exam schedule for NORTH REGION only.

February 9

Theory Test for Panel students. You MUST take the theory exam if you are not exempt, or this is your first Panel BEFORE March 1. The location is 33045 Korbel Street, Union City, CA 94587 at 4:00 pm (home of Gloria Ho).

NORTH REGION Piano Performance dates

March 9

Makeup for theory exams for high school only.

This year the makeup date will be BEFORE the official theory exams at Chabot College.

It will be held at my house, 33045 Korbel Street, Union City, CA 94587 at 4:00 pm.

Theory exams for all disciplines at Chabot College. Check your directory for address.

SOUTH REGION Piano Performance dates

Woodwinds Performance Date held at Anna Poklewski Academy of Music. Check your directory for address

Voice Performance Date. Schedule to record DVDs. Location and date to be announced in February.

Due to the dates being spread out, I do not need to announce anything for South Region because your exam isn't until March. I will make announcements in February for your information. However, if you already know your need for a special time, please inform GRACE CHENG of that information.

MSSL News

Dear teachers,

Please encourage your students of any age who are ready to perform to join MSSL.

It is a great opportunity for them to perform more and get Community Service hour.

Next Event: January 27, 2019 from 2 - 3 pm. The recital will take place at Aegis Living of Fremont (3850 Walnut Ave., Fremont, CA 94538)

Below is the pictures taken by Charissa Luk from December event at Brookdale Senior Living. There were a total of 12 performers and around 30 seniors who came to listen. The seniors enjoyed the event very much and hope that the students can come back to perform.

Competition Opportunity

The Ninth Annual Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Piano Competition

The Ninth Annual Kathryn Gawartin Chopin Piano Competition sponsored by the West Los Angeles Branch will be held on Sunday afternoon, February 17, 2019 at Roth Hall, Crossroad School located at 1714 21st Street, Santa Monica, CA 90404.

This is a high caliber cash award competition and is open to all branches of MTAC. Online application is now available and the deadliine is January 28, 2019. Postmark deadline for entry fees and proof of age to reach Louisa Wong is January 29, 2019.
