It's not too late to get a flu shot
Since Christmas, we have seen an increase in customers coming in with Tamiflu prescriptions for the flu.
If you haven't gotten a flu shot yet, we still have plenty of vaccine available, and it is not too late to get your flu shot!

Tips for avoiding illness this winter season:
- Get a flu shot if you haven't already.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for 15 seconds.
- Carry hand sanitizer with you for when soap and water are not available.
- If someone in your house is sick, wipe high-touch items like doorknobs, phones and remote controls with an alcohol-based wipe.
- Avoid touching your face, nose and eyes--this is how germs get introduced to your system.
- Don't re-use tissues, it is too easy to spread germs around. The rule: use once and done.
- Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and keep your immune system in top germ-slaying form. In addition, try to get 30 minutes of exercise a day and at least 6 hours of sleep each night to keep your immune system functioning well.
- Keep your skin moisturized. Germs can get in to small cracks and cuts in dry skin and make you sick.
- If you start feeling ill, try Zinc, Vitamin C, Emergen-C, or Elderberry lozenges to help soothe your symptoms and shorten your illness.
- If you feel sick--stay home, rest and stay well hydrated!
- Call your doctor if you have a fever higher than 100.4 F, or if you have had a cough or upper respiratory symptoms that have lasted 10 days or longer.

Is it a Cold or the Flu?
Colds symptoms
are usually above your neck: runny nose, cough, sore throat, and other aches and pains. Your symptoms usually get worse slowly and may start with a scratchy throat, headache, slight aches and possibly a low-grade fever. You are still able to function--just maybe a bit slower. Drink plenty of fluids and treat your symptoms with a cough suppressant, acetaminophen or ibuprofen, and a decongestant. Ask one of our Pharmacists for a recommendation on what you should take to treat your symptoms.
Flu symptoms
are usually both above and below your neck. You have cold symptoms as well as a fever over 100 F, chills and all-over body aches. The flu hits you like a speeding train. One minute you are fine and the next you can barely function. You will have extreme fatigue and aches all over. You will be in bed for at least a few days. Within 48 hours of the onset of these symptoms is the time to get tested for the flu, and get a prescription for Tamiflu to help you feel better faster.

Help Us, Help You
Due to our large increase in business from the closing of area Pharmacies, we are very busy, but we still want to be able to take care of you as we always have. We are in this together, so here are some tips we would like you to adopt to help us, help you:
- Call or drop off your refills in advance of needing them. If we need to contact your doctor for refills--please allow 72 hours for this process. Don't wait to re-order your prescriptions till you have one pill left, or you just took the last one.
- When you do order a refill, check to see if you are getting low on any other medications. If you get a 30 day supply, the insurance will generally refill the prescription when you have 5-7 days left. And if you get a 90 day supply, the insurance will generally refill the prescriptions when you have 14 days left.
- We prefer if you would order in advance, and not drop off your prescriptions and tell us you will wait, as the wait time is increasing a bit with the increase in business. It will be a much smoother pick up for you if you order at least 4 hours in advance of pick up. Here is how to order in advance:
- Call and enter your Rx numbers into the IVR on our phone system. If the IVR says you need to speak to a Pharmacist, this usually means that you have a newer Rx number on file for that prescription. You don't need to speak do a Pharmacist, you can just leave a message at the end of your phone call and we will pull your file and get the new Rx filled for you.
- Call and speak to a clerk if you want to speak to someone directly. You do not need to speak to a Pharmacist to order refills. Anyone who answers the phone will be able to take your refill order.
- Order your refills from the refill screen on our website, www.centerdrug.com. You may either enter your Rx number, or the name of the medication in the refill area. We will email you when your order is complete.
- Order your refills from our app. You can visit our website, www.centerdrug.com for directions to download the app.
For customers who are new to our store, you will need to order your first fill from us by talking to a clerk, leaving a message on the IVR system, or through the refill screen on our website by entering the name of the medication you want to fill. After your first fill with us, you will have your new Rx number that you can use to re-order your prescriptions in the future. Please don't call us with your old pharmacy's Rx number as that will mean nothing to our system.
Our Pharmacists are always willing to answer your questions and make recommendations for you. If we are busy with another customer in the store, or are on the phone with a customer, doctor or insurance company you can always choose to have us return your phone call as soon as we are free, so that you don't have to waste your time on hold.
