INKY News: January 2020
Our Prayers Are with those on the Border
This week a delegation of IKC members, lead by Conference Minister Rev. Chad Abbott, left for Sahuarita, AZ, to attend the Common Ground on the Border event facilitated by The Good Shepherd UCC in Sahuarita . The group included not only just over a dozen IKC members coordinated by Pastor Chad, but also other groups representing churches and individuals from around the Conference who felt called and inspired to participate in the workshops and worship during Common Ground on the Border, as well as to witness to the crisis these migrants face as they try to find a way into the safety of the United States.

We'll have periodic updates on our Facebook page documenting the trip, and will follow up with more information, reflection, and opportunities for learning and advocacy, when our group returns home.

In the meanwhile, we ask you to join our Conference staff in prayer for these travelers. When the initial offer to sign up for this trip came from Pastor Chad through the Conference, he selected this Scripture as a touchstone for their work, perhaps it will inspire your prayers.

Let mutual love continue. Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels without knowing it. Remember those who are in prison, as though you were in prison with them; those who are being tortured, as though you yourselves were being tortured.

An Interview with Northwest Association COM chair,
Dean Holland Neal

There's a lot of responsibility in the hands of our committees on ministry, and with changes to the Manual on Ministry, misleading ideas about what COMs do, and sometimes a sense of isolation from the work of other Association COMs, Rev. Dena Holland Neal talks about the value of monthly COMCast meetings with ACM Rev. Dr. Toni Hawkins. Click here to read the interview .
