January 2020 Newsletter
Important Dates
Merryman would like to wish all of our families a fun and relaxing winter break! We look forward to seeing you back at Merryman on January 2nd!

Seasons Greetings from our Merryman family to yours!
Safety  is our number one priority at Merryman and we have had many concerned parents about the safety of our children during school pick up.

Students should be getting picked up at our back entrance by the playground. Please park by one of our sidewalks and either tell your child where to find you or walk to the playground to meet them. We have had many concerns regarding people parking on the entryway to the playground by the gate. In order to ensure the safety of our students, please do not use this as a parking spot as this is where the students leave school grounds - it is dangerous and it causes confusion for the child(ren).

Thank you for doing your part to keep the children of Merryman safe!
Merryman is in need of tissues

We have decided to have a friendly competition between classes to see who can bring in the most boxes of tissues!

The competition will run January 2nd - January 10th and at the end of that time, the classroom with the most tissue boxes will win a special reward!

Thank you for all that you do for the students of Merryman!
Missing Glasses?!

If anyone is missing this set of glasses, please collect them in the Merryman office!

We are super excited to kick off our eighth year of Summer Learning in the Marinette School District.

We have been busy planning and updating this year’s summer learning. We are excited with the changes that we have been able to make to support our families and provide enjoyment for all students completing grades 4K-8 during the 2019-20 school year.

We will provide an excellent summer learning experience with our enthusiastic, highly qualified staff, great course offerings, awesome facilities, and several available after school options to keep our students safe, active, and engaged in learning. Please see the attached flyer for details on this coming year’s summer learning!
Online Gaming, Fake Identities and Real Concerns

How many of your children play games online? Recently there was a disturbing article in The New York Times about kids targeted by predators via direct chats and in multiplayer video game chat rooms. Here’s what you need to know. . .

Hazel has been doing a great job following the PBIS expectations!! She acts responsibly in the hallways and in the classroom, and takes the time make sure others are safe. Her level of compassion towards others pushes us all to want to be better!! Great job Hazel!!!
Serenity just came to Merryman in November all the way from Tennessee. Being new can be scary but Serenity came in with a smile and has fit right in. She certainly fits December's character word compassionate. She always has a smile on her face and a kind word for her teachers and friends. You can hear her encouraging her classmates and commenting on a job well done. She's quick to notice a friend that may not have gotten a turn during a game and pick that student. She's very aware of others around her and is always willing to help. She takes care of our classroom and her friends. Thank you, Serenity for being so caring.
Aubree is a wonderful student. She is quick to help her fellow classmates and the adults in the building and she does it with a big smile on her face. She works hard in all her classes and is respectful and responsible. Aubree is a shining example of what all Merryman Knights strive to be. Way to go Aubree!!
Nia sets an awesome example on how to be compassionate. Nia always includes others in her activities. If someone doesn't have a partner during classwork time she is the first to ask that person to join her group. If someone is feeling left out at recess, Nia will ask them to play. We're very lucky to have such a kind and compassionate person like Nia at Merryman.
