Using MACRIS Database to Research Antique Home Histories
|
Join us on Monday, February 10th, 6:30 - 7:45 p.m. (snow date is February 24th), for a presentation with South Shore history researcher Bob Jackman. He will present various ways of using the MACRIS (MACRIS is an acronym for Massachusetts Cultural Resources Information System) database to research the histories of antique homes in Massachusetts. For many decades the Massachusetts Historical Society has received and filed the architectural and social history about select houses in every town across the state. For over two decades, that information has been easily accessed online at the MACRIS website. For more information on this historic resource visit:
mhc-macris.net.
The program will take place in
Ventress Library Plaza Program Room and is free and open to the public; no tickets required.

We have been busy in the Teen Room! Last month we hosted two new special events for teens in grades 7-12. We broke in our new Nintendo Switch and played Super Smash Bros. Then we ushered in 2020 with our New Year's Eve Makers' Party, where we played board games, made memory jars with the Cricut, and shared our new year's resolutions. In January, we are featuring three new recurring drop-in programs. First, a
Video Gaming Drop-In
, where teens can play Switch games in our makerspace, "The Wave." Second, on early release days, teens can come in and play a wide selection of popular and uncommon board games at our
Board Game Palooza
. Finally, our bullet journaling club has been transformed into our new
Making Waves
monthly program, where teens can tinker with new technology in our makerspace - in January, we will be 3D printing! For
