College Credit Plus Informational Video with BCHS's
junior-senior counselor Noah Kelley
College Credit Plus is Ohio’s dual enrollment program that provides students in grades 7-12 the opportunity to earn college and high school credits at the same time by taking courses from Ohio colleges or universities. The purpose of this program is to enhance students’ career readiness and postsecondary success, while providing a wide variety of options to college-ready students, at no or limited costs to students and families. Click here for CCP information from ODE.
For your convenience, Bloom-Carroll has created an informational video outlining the major components of CCP including steps to take if you would like to participate. Additional information will be available on Bloom-Carroll’s High School website. Please direct any questions to Bloom-Carroll's High School Guidance Office. Click here to view video.

It's Kindness Week at BCMS!
The BCMS Student Council sponsored Kindness Week January 25-29. The student all received bracelets with kindness pledges and kindness matters stamped on them. Kindness quotes were posted by the students on all lockers and were read daily on the announcements!

Themes for the week included pajama and hat day, neon day, dress like a teacher day and they closed with SPIRIT DAY! The advisors contacted the local semi-pro basketball team, the Lancaster Thunder, who recorded and sent a kindness message to the students!

In addition, the advisors received "swag bag" donations from the Cleveland Cavaliers, and Campy Russell, an announcer for the Cavs, sent a message to the Bulldogs of Bloom-Carroll reminding everyone that Kindness Matters! All in all, it was a great week to be a Middle School Bulldog!
Cross-curricular project at BCIS spans the globe
Third graders at BCIS had the opportunity to become world travelers this month as they engaged in a cross-curricular project called Country Pennants.

Each student selected a country that they wanted to research and learn more about and then designed a pennant that included fun facts about that country. It was a fun and effective way to integrate different learning outcomes to increase engagement and rigor in the classroom.
Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Celebrated at BCPS
If you were able to walk the halls of the primary school this month, you would see artwork, poetry, and banners celebrating and honoring the life and accomplishments of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Throughout the month, students have been engaging in activities that provide a glimpse into Dr. King's life and learning to make connections between their own lives and the lives of the people they are studying.

By making these connections, students gain a better understanding of the life and accomplishments of American heroes like Dr. King.
Looking ahead: Inclement Weather and Blizzard Bag Information
As we have done in the past, blizzard bags assignments will be given to students on the 3rd, 5th, and 8th weather-related calamity days. The district has already had two weather-related school closure days this year. The next weather-related closure will be our 3rd calamity and will result in a blizzard bag assignment being given by our teachers.

Blizzard bag information will be shared by the building principal and/or classroom teacher on our next school closure day.

For school closures or delays, Bloom-Carroll Local School District will notify the public using the following methods:

  • Phone, text, email messaging system. This is the primary and preferred method of notification. Please make sure your home phone, cell phone, and/or email address information is up-to-date.
