January 2021
Are you keeping warm through these frosty winter temps? This is the time of year when we focus on cozy comfort, warmth, relaxation and maybe a touch of self-indulgence. Melt winter's chill with hearty and satisfying foods served, of course, with your favorite Berks County wines! Here are a few of our favorites.
On a cold winter day, red wine and a bowl of chili seem made for each other. We love chili that's loaded with tomatoes, beans, onion, and spice and served with these red wines selections:

KOG Hill Winery - Pinot Noir is light and fruity or try unique Kranbernet. The berry notes in both are great companions to the spice in the chili.

Setter Ridge Vineyards - Syrah or Three Sisters blend of Pinot Noir, Merlot & Cabernet compliment the chili's smoky flavor.

Stone Barn Cellars - new release 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon is bold flavored or get a bottle of Bon Fire. How's that for warm!
Creamy Potato Corn Chowder is like a warm and comfortable blanket, perfect alongside the crisp splash from these white wines:

Deerfoot Winery - Migration, a dry Sauvignon Blanc, is a 2020 American Wine Society medal winner!

Long Trout Winery - Afternoon Delight is a Pinot Gris with a refreshing, citrus finish to balance the creamy soup.

Manatawny Creek Winery - Soleil, a semi-sweet Cayuga & Seyval Blanc blend, is like bottled sunshine.

Stonekeep Meadery - traditional Honey Mead has just the right touch of sweetness to compliment the natural sweetness of the corn in this warm and satisfying soup.
There's nothing more cozy than dessert, but how do you choose? Here's how - let the wine be your guide! Indulge yourself with some of these suggestions:

Ridgewood Winery - Underground combines Merlot and blackberry wine in a smooth and jammy blend that is matchless paired with a velvety cheesecake or creme brulee.

Stoudt's Winery - Heat Appalachian Spice Wine and enjoy alongside a delicious old-fashioned Apple Crisp of warmly-spiced apples with a toasted sugary topping.

Weathered - NEW, Haven is a port-style dessert wine with hints of berries, caramel, and mocha, delicious with rich chocolate, but equally tempting all by itself.
Coming next month - we'll recreate some of our (almost) famous wine and chocolate pairings!
