The Diocese will host a Congregational Leadership Conference (formerly known as the "Wardens and Treasurers" conference) via Zoom on Feb. 13, 10 a.m.- 12:00 p.m. CT (9 a.m. - 11 a.m. ET). Registration deadline is Friday, February 5th.

This free diocesan event is open to all vestry members (new and experienced), treasurers, stewardship chairs, clergy, audit committee members, and any other congregational leaders interested in this opportunity to share, discover, and learn best practices for the health and growth of our congregations. The conference will include plenary sessions for all congregational leadership in the morning, and various topical breakout room workshop components in the afternoon.

The agenda will cover a variety of essential items. (Including: Vestry best practices/responsibilities, D&O insurance, church safety, diocesan and TEC canons, by-laws of TEC, T&C, and churches leadership and management principles, parochial reports, financial reviews, audits, financial best practices/oversight, exemptions, annual filing fees, property tax not automatically exempt with PVA, stewardship, and annual giving campaigns)

The Racial Healing Task Force hopes that members of every congregation will use this resource during Lent. Cheri Mills wrote a book building on her work that The Diocese of Kentucky licensed last year during Lent. The Diocese licensed five pages from her work that can be distributed to people in every congregation again this year. The pages can be accessed here in a google doc, and here as a pdf.

We also hope that you’ll consider purchasing Cheri Mills’s new book and working through it together in your congregation or by partnering with another congregation.

Lastly, we will begin to roll out the racial healing training for congregational leaders in 2021. Please look for more information about that in upcoming newsletters.

Forma | A Ministry of ECF, is the Network for Christian Formation for the Episcopal Church and beyond. Every year in January there is a conference which includes opportunities for leaders to experience community and learning through curated worship, wisdom, and workshop offerings. This year’s conference is entitled, “Embodying Spiritual Practices” and will be held online January 26-28. There will be “live” gatherings as well as pre-recorded.

The Diocese of Kentucky is an institutional sponsor. Through our package we have 20 spots available for $65/person. Individual registrations are $130. You are invited to a half-hour interest session about Sacred Ground on Tuesday, January 26 at 6:30 PM Eastern. You can register by filling out the form here.

Sacred Ground is a film- and readings-based dialogue series on race, grounded in faith. Small groups are invited to walk through chapters of America’s history of race and racism, while weaving in threads of family story, economic class, and political and regional identity.

The 10-part series is built around a powerful online curriculum of documentary films and readings that focus on Indigenous, Black, Latino, and Asian/Pacific American histories as they intersect with European American histories.

We are currently planning to form two dialogue circles which will meet via Zoom. The first will meet every other Thursday from 6:30-8:30 PM Eastern, beginning on February 4. The second will meet on the fourth Tuesday of each month from 6:30-8:30 PM beginning on February 23. We may form additional circles if there is sufficient interest.

Project Resource, a Ministry of the College for Bishops, is offering a six-week conference, meeting weekly, to address stewardship and theology in the Episcopal Church. Project Resource is not a curriculum. It is a way of understanding stewardship as a ministry, essential for the spiritual health of individuals and communities. It is a way of learning to be in right relationship to the resources in our hands.
