CMEA Membership! As we move to finalize the 2021 virtual conference, we are hearing that there are several of you who feel you have registered but are surprised to find out that your school or district has not completed the process. That being the case, there has been an extension to the early registration to allow teachers to work with their districts this coming week to get the payment portion of registration taken care of. That also means that anyone who has not registered yet can still do so for the early registration price until January 16th. The new registration timelines are added below. Do not put off this year's professional development.

I cannot express enough that CMEA, YOUR CMEA, will need this conference to continue to as an association and make it through the various shutdowns. The Board of Directors and State Assembly, your friends, and colleagues, have worked as hard as ever to make this event as meaningful as an online conference can be. CMEA is an association of and by its membership, it is not a for-profit corporation, but rather a not-for-profit association of music teachers working together to continue making our profession stronger, relevant, and practical. If there ever was a time where professional development was essential it is now.
We can also announce that Dr. James Weaver, Director of Performing Arts and Sports at the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS), will be in attendance for a session. He is the person who has been coordinating the presentation of the aerosol studies and will be talking about best practices for making our classrooms safe for in person instruction. Thanks to Bethany Brookens for helping to make his appearance at the 2021 conference.
Remember, one of the positives about the conference is that you do not have to be present for any sessions during the scheduled times. You can watch all the pre-recorded sessions when you are available and all live headliner sessions will be recorded and posted two weeks following the conference.
