Hartness Family & Community
The Hartness Family and their legacy have been loyal supporters of A Child's Haven for over 20 years. Over the years they have hosted various fundraisers from the "Hoot and Hollar" fundraiser days at their family homestead to the yearly 5K races, their continuous investments in our mission is hard to match. In 2019, Mary Lou and Pat Hartness received the 2019 Eva P. Hunt Award from our Executive Director, Tanya Camunas and Eva P. Hunt's daughter, Marian Hunt (pictured above).

More recently, the Hartness' have gone above and beyond and decided to support this year's SYNNEX Share the Magic (SSTM) efforts in a huge way. Not only will Hartness be hosting the SSTM gala event this October, they have also committed to be a $35,000 Magic Maker Sponsor. Once again, they're dedication to making our community a better place is incredible.

This spring, Hartness will be opening a new restaurant, Village Kitchen, offering specialty coffee and breakfast in the morning and a southern influenced, fire roasted menu throughout the rest of the day. Navaeh's Success Story
The day Nevaeh was born was her mother Pauline's first day of sobriety. Pauline feared she was going to lose her baby, who was born with fetal alcohol disorders.
 
As she sat in the hospital, Pauline knew that she needed help to be the best mom possible for her new baby. After several months of counseling, right before Nevaeh’s first birthday, Pauline told her social worker she wanted to learn about other resources to help her address Nevaeh’s developmental and social-emotional challenges. That’s when they received a referral to A Child’s Haven.
  
During intake, a Child and Family Therapist sat down with Pauline and asked her a series of questions to learn how we could best help her and her child. More than that, the therapist cared, listened, talked through past trauma and reviewed Nevaeh’s Individual Plan of Care with Pauline. ACH believed in Pauline, which empowered her in a situation where far too many families feel powerless. 

After a few months of treatment, Nevaeh began reaching some basic developmental milestones needed to help her continue growing to meet more of her goals. During this time, a Child and Family Therapist met with Pauline for Family Therapy sessions a few times a month.
Swamp Rabbits Hockey Game Benefitting ACH - February 4th
A Child's Haven is excited to announce that we are the charity beneficiary of the Swamp Rabbits Hockey game on February 4th! ACH will receive $5 from every ticket sold through our unique webpage and proceeds from their Chuck-A-Puck game.

We also need volunteers to help sell pucks for the Chuck-A-Puck game and provide information about our organization to patrons. Click here to sign up! Volunteers will receive a free ticket to the game and special parking.
4K Pilot Program Launching This Month
Our 4K Pilot Program with Greenville First Steps launches this month. This program will serve two Treatment Rooms with a total of 16 children per room. Some current clinical team members will transition into sole providers in each of these rooms. The 4K treatment rooms will mimic a typical K-12 classroom setting for ACH children who are nearing their discharge date, giving them the strategies and support they need to be successful in a typical school setting. This is another advancement towards our goal of becoming a model for other Therapeutic Child Care programs. Stay tuned for more updates!
