NACMS NEWSLETTER
January 2021
New year, new Lenten Retreat, new Marianists Write Now!, new Online Reading Groups, and new recording studio. Start scrolling for exciting details.
If you'd like to share your Marianist Story with the Marianist Family we would like to hear from you. Not sure what you would have to say? Typically we focus on the five pillars of the Marianist Charism: Mary, Faith, Mission, Inclusivity, and Community. How has your commitment to Marianst life and the Marianist Charism added to your life personally or in ministry? Maybe you connect with one of the founders in a way that supports your faith journey that you would like to share. Sr. Gabby Bibeau and Patti Gehred would love to hear your story.
Email Patti at [email protected] to set up an interview.

We will be offering another Marianist Write Now! on March 12-13, 2021. Our topic for reflection will be: "What does it mean for me to live a committed Marianist life?" The program includes time for prayer, writing exercises, and peer consultation. However, most of the weekend is personal writing time. Our major caveat? Essays must be completed and submitted by Sunday (March 14) evening. Registration information will be coming soon, but for FAQs click here. To read the contributions from November, click here.
This week-long virtual retreat, taking place in the fourth week of Lent, offers a short experience of the Spirit of Saragossa Retreat. For those looking for support in your Lenten journey a week-long retreat could be a great help in deepening your prayer life, along with getting a taste of the Spirit of Saragossa Retreat.

NACMS is "On Air"
NACMS now has its own recording studio! Construction was completed in December converting a former reception desk and work area into dedicated recording space. We are in the process of adding furnishings and equipment. The studio will enhance our ability to capture and preserve the living memories of lay and religious Marianists for future generations and to provide higher quality audio and video resources for the Marianist Family.
As soon as the pandemic permits, the studio will be formally dedicated as “The Lawrence J. Cada, SM Recording Studio.” Brother Larry Cada, former director of NACMS and longtime scholar-in residence, will forever stand as a giant in the field of Marianist Studies. Naming the studio for him is a way of remembering his curiosity to discover not only the “what” but also the “why” of matters large and small.
Help Us Enter the New Year
God of all time, help us enter the New Year quietly,
thoughtful of who we are to ourselves and to others,
mindful that our steps make an impact
and our words carry power.
May we walk gently.
May we speak only after we have listened well.
Creator of all life,
help us enter the New Year reverently,
aware that you have endowed
every creature and plant, every person and habitat
with beauty and purpose.
May we regard the world with tenderness.
May we honor rather than destroy.
Lower of all souls,
help us enter the New Year joyfully,
willing to laugh and dance and dream,
remembering our many gifts with thanks
and looking forward to blessings yet to come.
May we welcome your lavish love.
In this new year, may the grace and peace of Christ bless us now and in the days ahead.
