Santa paid a visit to Belle Glade
on Saturday, December 5th
at the Chamber’s Small Business and Craft Fair
Approximately 15 businesses and vendors participated in the December 5th event that was held in the vacant lot just north of the Lawrence E. Will Museum at the corner of Main Street and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
Santa arrived at about 9:30 a.m. compliments of the Belle Glade Fire Department and children were able to talk to Santa as well as make candy cane tree ornaments, picture frames, and write letters to Santa (just in case he forgets what they tell him) which were then deposited directly into the North Pole Express Mailbox.

Lawrence E. Will Museum Director, Cheryl Stein, opened the museum for tours and stated that several people (many of which were from out of town) visited.
Thank you to everyone who stopped by, purchased items from one of the vendors and brought their kids out to see Santa.

Boost Mobile of Belle Glade Donation Sponsors Scholarships for the Medical Sciences Academy at West Technical Education Center

Belle Glade, FL - Boost Mobile of Belle Glade has made a generous donation of $1,600 to offset cost for students wishing to attend the adult Medical Sciences Academy at West Technical Education Center (West Tech). The Sana Mohamad Scholarship awards are for interested adult students that do not qualify for financial aid through other local organizations such as CareerSource, Farm Workers Career Development Program, Community Action Program, etc.

West Tech is currently enrolling adult students for the next medical science cohort that will begin on January 4, 2021. Students have two program options within medical science – Home Health Aide and Phlebotomy. Both programs are 15 weeks in length and are delivered in a hybrid model, which consists of both online line and in-person instruction.

In addition to training in the medical field, West Tech offers pre-apprenticeship training in the areas of welding, electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and carpentry; these classes are offered in partnership with Florida Training Services, Inc.
West Tech’s Adult General Education program serves those who need to improve their basic literacy and math skills; improve their oral and written English; practice for the GED® test to attain a high school equivalency diploma; and, prepare for college. Instructors also help students with science and social studies test preparation for GED® testing.

For additional information about the Sana Mohamad Scholarship or any of the programming offered at West Tech, please call 561-829-4615 or 561-992-2109.
