January 2021
"If you saturate with devotion a thought of God, and by your concentration impress that thought deep within you, then in the temple of superconsciousness the Lord of the universe will come to receive that loving thought.

Ask God to help you fulfill all the good thoughts and resolutions that you are making now for the New Year. Resolve that you are going to do just what you think you should do, and that under no circumstances are you going to be cowed into doing otherwise by your old bad habits."

Paramahansa Yogananda
"Controlling Your New Year's Destiny," Man's Eternal Quest, p. 184

We hope you and your families were able to enjoy the Christmas meditations during the month of December. As Brother Chidananda said “On this path we have the blessing of the holy science our Guru brought to the West 100 years ago, at the behest of Jesus and Babaji, to aid us in making that connection with God and the universal Christ”. The opportunity to commune with Christ and our Guru continues during the month of January. We will have a Birthday Commemorative service for Paramahansa Yogananda on January 5th and a long birthday commemorative meditation on January 9th. Details can be found below. Over the past months many of you have expressed your desire to come together in Spiritual fellowship with the devotees virtually that we have developed enduring divine friendships with. With that in mind we are planning on having a DC Center virtual online fellowship gathering with just the DC Center devotees on January 17th. A separate email to local members will provide the details with the time and login information.

Thank you for all you are doing to support Paramahansa Yogananda’ s work, and the Washington DC Center during this challenging time. The Council elected to make a donation to the College Park area local food bank in the amount of $500 just before Christmas. If you are interested in making a donation to your local food bank, I have provided a few links to consider.

We are also grateful for your support through your sincere prayers and personal efforts to persevere in your daily spiritual life.

Staying Connected

We encourage all to stay remotely connected to the worldwide SRF family:

Suggestion Box

Due to the fact we no longer are physically present at the DC Center we thought we would add a feature called the “Suggestion Box” in which we invite your suggestions or comments. Much like the suggestion box at the DC Center, if you have a constructive idea or suggestion for our Center please send it by replying to this email. We can then review them monthly at our Council meetings. Someone will reply to each suggestion after each monthly Council meeting.
Caring Friends Team

The Caring Friends Team provides support and outreach to members who are experiencing illness, hardships, and personal crisis. For more information please contact Stacey Hawkins at 301-395-9541, callingcardevents@comcast.net.
