Jeff Corrigan began playing classical guitar shortly after graduating from high school. His first guitar was a $25.00 "Sears Special" that his parents gave to him for his birthday. Jeff took lessons from Rob Vettel and was a member of the Sacramento Guitar Society in the late 1970s and early 80s. He remembers meetings being held at that time in members homes.
Jeff taught German in Sacramento for twenty years before becoming a high school principal in Arkansas and then Virginia. Time demands as a principal made regular practice often difficult, but when he retired in 2012, he and his wife, Patsy, returned to the Sacramento area (Placerville) and he quickly embraced the opportunity to focus on classical guitar again.
As a returning member to the SGS, Jeff is very impressed with the expansion and development that occurred over the years when he was out of state He finds the SGS orchestras, the society's outreach programs, and concert sponsorships to be significant and valuable additions that have brought vitality to the organization.
