January 2021
Greetings to Our New Members
If you're reading a PTG member e-newsletter for the first time, welcome! If you need anything, please get in touch with your chapter president, Regional Vice President, or the PTG Home Office. Be sure to check out some of the great benefits of PTG membership. To all members, check out the list of new members in each month's Journal and see who's new in your area.
Dues News
Have you paid your 2021 dues yet? Dues statements were mailed on November 1. If you didn’t receive your invoice, please contact Sandy Roady at sandy@ptg.org. You can also check to see if any balance is due. Log in using your username and password to PTG’s website (www.ptg.org) and select Pay Online & Dues Renewal under PTG Members. If a balance is due, you can make an online payment by following the website prompts. Members who have not paid by January 31 will be dropped from the PTG member rolls.
Members may now choose to pay annual PTG dues in full or by installments. Members who elect to make payment installments will be required to set up automatic payments through PTG’s website (www.ptg.org) by logging in and selecting Pay Online & Dues Renewal under PTG Members. An administration fee of $5.00 per month will be added to each installment payment. Questions about the installment option may be addressed to Sandy Roady (sandy@ptg.org) or Jason Hensley (jason@ptg.org). Please give the Home Office a call at (913) 432-9975 or drop an e-mail to ptg@ptg.org if you run into any issues or have questions.
2021 Convention – August 4 - 7
PTG continues to plan for the 2021 Convention and Technical Institute. Plans are to have an in-person Convention at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Orlando at SeaWorld. As always, the health and safety of all of our convention participants remain the highest priority, and we continue to monitor the situation and prepare contingency plans. More information about class offerings and registration coming soon.
Winter Board Meeting Online January 30 & 31, 2021
The next meeting of the PTG Board of Directors is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, January 30 and 31. You can view the meeting on the PTG YouTube channel. Scroll down the page to find the live broadcast. Download the meeting agenda.
Update Your Website
Please check your business and chapter websites to make sure they include up-to-date logos and information. Don't forget that the term Associate was dropped in 2019 and you should identify yourself or PTG colleagues as Member or Registered Piano Technician (RPT). Visit the Member Directory at www.ptg.org to see the most current list of members.
RPT Exam Updates
Digital RPT written exams were approved at the 2020 Summer Board meeting. The digital format of the exam must be administered by an RPT. RPTs should contact the Home Office to make arrangements and receive instructions for the examiner and examinee.
The Board also approved an extension for exam retakes due to limitations on exam opportunities because of COVID-19. CTEs and TECs also have an additional year for recertifications that were due in 2020. If you have any questions, please contact Dave Davis, ETSC Chairman.
Note that exam fees increased on January 1, but all previously purchased vouchers are still valid. You will not need to purchase new vouchers or pay the difference in price.
Wanted: Journal Materials
Have knowledge or expertise you've always wanted to share? Now is a good time to turn that idea into an article for The Piano Technicians Journal. The PTJ staff is looking for material for future editions and is interested in recruiting new authors and content. Please send a note to John Granholm at editor@ptg.org with your ideas. For more information go to the Author Resources Page. View the January 2021 issue online.

PTG Green Initiative
As adopted in 2005, the Council Book of Resolutions states, "Home Office and PTG membership shall be environmentally aware." Over the last year, the HO has been working towards eliminating the printing and mailing of such things as newsletters, supplements, invoices, and monthly statements. Please update your profile online or contact the HO if we do not have your current contact information.
